mtoh session summary
after the defeat of the Great Devourer, and being invited to work under the Lady, the Wanderers take a couple weeks to explore the city and get used to their surroundings. evelyn also found a scrap of blue fabric in the gut of the Great Devourer, but kept it to herself.
Snow and Wolfsbane spend some time together. Snow purchases a new axe, embued with fire magic, and Wolfsbane suggests that the group head north to check on her tribe. She is worried that the group wont be interested, but Snow assures her that they would love to go. Wolfsbane takes time to do some training and learn to be more perceptive when fighting and attack those who attack her friends.
Asenath takes Jakobi and Clink to Fantasy Chuck E. Cheese. Clink has a blast but Jakobi mostly sits listlessly. he secretly made a pact with a patron (taking a level in warlock) and has since looked more sickly and thin. Asenath is worried about him but when she questions him, Jakobi assures her he is fine and she takes him at his word. Clink buys lots of sticky hands with his tickets.
Evelyn takes some time to learn an instrument. She takes up the drum and seems to be a natural at it.
Asenath, Jakobi, and Evelyn all go looking for more information about the city and The Lady. Evelyn sneaks around the castle and learns about the Lady's daily routine, and also that the guards seem convinced that war between Faria and Belmonia is imminent.
Jakobi makes contact with a faction of his group in the underground, an unnamed young tiefling about his age. They are hesitant to talk to him but he coaxes a bit of information out of her, and she says she heard that Damaia had gone into hiding and that Amonon, the one who betrayed Jakobi and his mentor, was currently running the faction in Jakobi's home town of Castrine in the North. Jakobi presses them for more information but the tiefling is paranoid of getting in trouble and runs off before he can get anymore info. He asks around more generally for information on the Lady. He gets the gist that she is more of a figurehead than anything and that the city is actually run mostly by the head guards and the upper crust.
Asenath checks out multiple libraries for written history on the city, but she notices it's all very similar despite different books and authors and seems like a watered down version of history for children. So she goes looking for a sect of anarchists instead. She manages to find someone who goes by "Breyley", a wary half-orc who invites Asenath down to a small club-house of sorts. He at first interrogates her by pointing out how she lives in the centre ring of the city among the elite. Asenath talks him down and earns a sliver of his trust. He asks if Asenath is willing to get her hands dirty, and bloody. Asenath says she is, and he says he will contact her when he needs her. Asenath gives him the name Djoser.
Asenath, Evelyn and Jakobi meet up near the end of their 2 weeks and discuss the information they gathered. They invite Snow and Wolfsbane in on the discussion, and decide they should get out of the city. Wolfsbane seizes the opportunity and brings up heading north to meet her family. Everyone quickly agrees, Jakobi for his own personal reasons, and they formulate a plan to leave.
Evelyn and Asenath go to Ali's house, with Jakobi staying hidden near them. Ali is practicing archery, and they inform her that there has been a family emergency and they have to leave the city. Ali lightly presses them for info, but accepts their rebuffs and doesn't push any further, simply wishing them safe travels.
With that sorted, the Wanderers retrieve their boarded sand seals and head north out of the city, towards the country of Belmonia.
