Joker

Sexuality Headcanon: Bisexual (and should've been romancable!)

Gender Headcanon: Cis male

A ship I have with said character: Joker/Shepard

A BROTP I have with said character: Joker and EDI, which I answered in the EDI ask but it still stands, their friendship is great. Also Joker and Kaidan, starting with that banter in the beginning of the game. Would've loved to see more ribbing between them.

A NOTP I have with said character: While I don't ship Joker/EDI, it's not a really a NOTP, just a personal preference of mine.

A random headcanon: Joker collects hats and has a large collection he'll switch out when he's not on duty. Ranging from beanies to novelty ball caps, he has something for every occasion. EDI once got him a hat that says passenger princess, that he wears proudly because it's a great representation of her humor.

General Opinion over said character: While my Shepards may not always like him (looking at you, Regis), he's always been a character I've enjoyed talking to. My only wish is I could've agreed with him about Thessia.

Gender Headcanon: Cis male with GNC tendencies

A ship I have with said character: V/Kerry (for when I do canon romance), V/Viktor (for when I start downloading mods to pose them together with AMM!)

A BROTP I have with said character: V and Misty. Catching up together over memories of Jackie and making new ones. Also V and Judy, my V is a netrunner so I imagine they can talk and nerd out over tech together.

A NOTP I have with said character: Don't really have one.

A random headcanon: Vincent was a corpo and I imagine he knew Viktor in passing through Jackie, so he fell for him pretty fast. They don't get together until after Vincent does the boxing quests and ends up going on a round with Vik....

General Opinion over said character: I typically play as male characters in voiced RPGs and V did not disappoint. I love my netrunner and knives using corpo, and I love making him a snarky asshole when I can. I need to play phantom liberty!

Atlas Ryder

Sexuality Headcanon: Pansexual

Gender Headcanon: Cis male

A ship I have with said character: Ryder/Reyes

A BROTP I have with said character: Ryder and Cora bond over biotics, Ryder and Jaal trick out weapons, and Ryder spends a lot of his time in engineering with Gil, learning the ins and outs of the ship.

A NOTP I have with said character: I don't really have a lot of NOTPs. Maybe for Atlas that would be Gil, they're better off as friends and from a meta perspective I was never a fan on how they handled the kid thing with their romance.

A random headcanon: Atlas went through the first few N trials before he was kicked out of the Alliance due to his father. He resents that he never finished it and wears the N7 proudly.

General Opinion over said character: I've always found Ryder to be a very refreshing protag and I enjoyed playing him as more sarcastic and logical when I could. Would've like to see more classic renegade options, but I loved MEA and would've loved to see Ryder and the gang some more.

Alright, Miles, you wanted 'soon'??? YOU'RE GETTING SOON!!!

"Permission to speak freely?"

Jay tamps down the urge to roll his eyes and instead focuses them on Kaidan's face next to him. 

"Kay, we're sitting shirtless on my bed at," he pauses to check the time, "02:30. Even if that weren't the case, you know I hate that ‘permission’ shit.” A shy smile graces his face before he continues. “Spit it out, Alenko.” 

Kaidan seems nervous, as if the permission was needed – or like whatever he’s about to say ‘freely’ is hard for him to verbalize. There’s a growing furrow to his brow as those hazel eyes dart around to look at anything but Jay’s, and whatever is going on is starting to be worrisome. 

“Kay?” He whispers the other man’s name, willing him to meet his eye and share whatever is troubling him. “What’s up? Talk to me.”

A short, almost annoyed, sigh is blown out through Kaidan's nose before he runs a hand through recently dried hair. Random strands curl in odd directions in its wake, yet untamed by static or product or even a careful comb guiding them into order. Jay can tell Kaidan is over-thinking as the quiet stretches out before them, but he also can't help but notice the shine off of those gorgeous curls, the delicate arch of furrowed brows with the slightest hint of laugh lines starting at the corners of his eyes.

Quiet moments like these, late-night talks and bullshit sessions, serious discussions that bare the soul – any time they're alone lately, Jay keeps finding himself drawn to inviting hazel eyes and those fantastic upturned lips. Whatever is causing this beautiful, wonderful, selfless man so much turmoil is going to get its ass kicked.

"It's uh, it's about you, actually."

Oh, well… shit.

"Well," Kaidan stammers, reeling at the admittance, "I mean, more specifically, anyway, it's about you and… me. Us. Um… Shit."

If his brow furrows any harder, Kaidan will have a canyon permanently etched between his eyes. Turning toward him, Jay leans over trying to catch Kay's gaze and fights down his pounding heart with every beat. 

"'Us', Kay?" He keeps his voice low, as level as he can manage with his tongue fighting to speak, as calm as the rapid pattering of his pulse will allow. 

"Heh, yeah. Us." Kaidan swallows down his next words as their eyes meet. The anxiety Jay is met with – the fear and excitement and awe – it's like those shimmering hazel eyes are mirrors into his own tumultuous self.

"I don't know if I'm… reading this-" Kaidan gestures back and forth between them with the wave of a hand, "wrong or not, but I think there's something here. Something… more, that we've not discussed." Moving back slightly, putting more distance between them, Kaidan stumbles to continue. "Or if I'm way off here, I'm sorry to uh, to bring it up, but…"

"You're not."

Jay's surprised his voice rings as strongly as it does when he interrupts.  "You're uh, you're pretty spot-on, I'd say…" he grows quiet by the end, watching the realization wash over Kaidan's face. "I'm crazy about you, Kay."

The relief is palpable, both of them breaking out into grins wide enough to hurt as Jay's hands shake in his lap.

"That is… so good to hear." Kaidan laughs but makes no attempt at moving closer. Relief is morphing back into nervousness as the quiet returns, and Jay fumbles for something to bring back that joy to Kaidan's face.

"Um, permission to lean in?"

Jay wants to kick himself as soon as the question is asked, but doesn't get a chance before breathy laughter starts next to him.

"Permission granted."

Kaidan is slow to advance, but Jay's hesitation is bowled over by the racing of his heart forcing him forward, closer, until those gorgeous hazel eyes close and he can bridge the distance. Soft, tentative lips brush his own for that initial cautious touch – barely moving as breath is held to pause time. Jay breaks contact first but doesn't retreat, doesn't open his eyes, barely dares to breathe as he takes in the moment. 

"Wow," he whispers, and just like that Kaidan's lips are back. More insistent, applying more pressure, more warmth and movement and life flowing between them with the ebb and flow of two biotic fields more completely joined via touch. When a pleased little groan slips out of Jay’s mouth, Kaidan is there to catch it. When their heads turn to allow for a better angle, Kaidan is there to cup his cheek. And when Jay breaks the kiss to breathe, to place further chaste pecks between inhale and exhale alike, Kaidan is there smiling close enough for their lips to touch and share the air. 

"Yeah. Wow."

Part of The Golden Boy & The Shady Bastard series

Truth be told, he felt like teenager in school, though he wasn’t sure if the adrenaline jolt was from the possibility of getting caught – by his own people this time, instead of the headmaster – or from the man currently wrapped around him. 

Not that it mattered much these days.  He was the Boss and his people were well aware that he and the former Alliance soldier were…close.  Reyes’ crew didn’t go out of their way to actively avoid the two of them at moments like this, but neither did they try to catch the two of them in the act.

Of course, standing in the middle of the hallway in Draullir was, perhaps, more risk than Alenko normally was willing to take on a good day.  He was, Reyes had come to discover, an intensely private man, not prone to open displays of affection and, at times, a bit bashful.  Reyes had lost count how many times he’d pulled back from a kiss when one of the other smugglers excused themselves as they passed by the pair.

Reyes hadn’t known before meeting the man so many years ago on Omega that it would be such an endearing trait.

Still…

Pulling his lips free of Alenko’s, free of a kiss so heated it would melt all the glaciers on Voeld, Reyes rested his forehead against the other man’s as he willed his lungs to fill with air.  From this angle – he was just an inch or so taller than Alenko – he could look deep into his partner’s eyes, and watch and savor every glint of desire in honey brown eyes as they stared right back at him; lungs heaving, lips curving, soft sounds of approval and want echoing around them.

Alenko reached up, cradling Reyes’ cheeks with hands far colder than usual and surprisingly so on a planet as warm as Kadara.

WIP Wednesday on Thursday

I was tagged by @mtreebeardiles (thank you so much!) and since I know how much you love Rhys and Sara interacting, here's a bit more of the next chapter of Everybody Loses It which I should hopefully get done...soonish. lol (someday, I promise!)

“Do I get to ask what the hell just happened?” he asks, eyeing her with a hint of suspicion. 

Sara does her best to hide her giggles as she shrugs.  “Just doing my job protecting you, Doc.  Peacekeeping duties, right?”

Rhys isn't amused and continues to dig for details. “You know him?”

“Knew him,” she clarifies, emphasizing the past tense. “A long time ago.”  Peering up at him, her gaze narrows.  “Don't tell me you're jealous, Doc?”

Startled, Rhys pulls back, sputtering, “What?  Why would I be jealous?”  Okay, maybe he is a bit over-defensive, but only in a big-brother sort of a way...right? Her laughter echoes around them as she hands him her empty drink.  “Well, you promised me one for saving your ass on Eden Prime and you delivered.  Now, I think you owe me one for saving your ass from Nate.”

Setting: ME3, on board the Normandy

“Where do you think you’re going?”

Caleb isn’t even halfway sitting up when a quick, strong arm slides around his torso and tugs insistently. It’s followed by the snap and hum of Kaidan’s biotics filling his ears even as he falls backwards with a laugh; the dark energy tickles along his chest where Kaidan’s arm touches, their biotic fields almost tickling where they intersect

“Mo ghrá,” he chides but there is no real heat in the words, “I’m on duty in twenty.”

Kaidan leans in over Caleb’s shoulder, pinning him to the bed as he whispers in Caleb’s ear, “That’s plenty of time.”

Shivers ripple down Caleb’s spine when Kaidan’s lips find the sensitive skin where his neck and shoulder join. Damn the man for knowing his weak points! Caleb groans, but doesn’t push Kaidan away. Instead, he trails his fingers up Kaidan’s arm and around his shoulders. Two can play this game – have played this game in past – and Caleb learned early on the best ways and places to ‘retaliate.’ Fingers splaying across the back of Kaidan’s neck, he combs them through his lover’s hair, gently guiding him ever closer to his lips.

Chuckling deeply, Kaidan trails a path of light kisses and nips along Caleb’s neck and up his jaw until their lips finally meet. Sliding his second arm around Kaidan’s shoulders, Caleb guides him to lie across his chest, a more comfortable position for the both of them as the kiss deepens.

It lasts an eternity. Or, it feels like it, anyway. When they break free, both desperate to fill their lungs with air, his voice is but a rasp as he asks, “Plenty of time…for what?”

A knowing smirk slides across Kaidan’s lips and his eyes brighten. “More kisses,” he murmurs, his gravelly voice dropping an octave to a register that never failed to leave Caleb breathless. “What else?”

Another groan escapes before Caleb can stop it. “Mo ghrá…”

Kaidan covers his mouth to cut off the protest can finish, all heat and hunger and impossible to ignore.

Kaidan breaks it this time, resting his forehead against Caleb’s, his laughter soft puffs of feathery warmth on Caleb’s cheeks. “You were saying?”

Drawing one hand around, Caleb brushes his knuckles lightly against Kaidan’s cheek; his chest tightens as he watches Kaidan lean into the contact. “Aye. I… suppose one last kiss is worth being late to work for…”

Okay, so this got way out of control almost from the moment I first saw it. Just dropping a snippet here, the rest is over on AO3. Hope you like it! :)

Brain Freeze

The heat was a problem.

Since coming to the orchard, Aubrey had settled in surprisingly well, if Kaidan and his mother were to be believed.  Never having been around nature before, let alone so much all at once, it was a bit of a shock.  Tree branches drifting gently in the breeze were not Aria’s troops closing in, nor was the subtle shift from daylight to dusk a sign someone was messing with the power grid.  It had taken time to get used to it all – and truthfully, he would admit he wasn’t quite there yet – but Kaidan’s reassurances that they had the time now to be together and that was the most important thing, made the process of adjusting here so much easier.

And then there was Kaidan’s mother.

Anna-Marie Alenko was not what Aubrey had expected.  Perhaps that wasn’t quite fair, since the only woman with any major influence in his life before now was Brooks and that had been the absolute worst sort of relationship.  However, Kaidan’s mother was well beyond the opposite end of the spectrum from Brooks.  Kind, patient, understanding; so many of the same qualities Aubrey had come to find in Kaidan.  Anna-Marie had sensed Aubrey’s initial discomfort immediately upon his arrival and gone out of her way to welcome him; not with open-armed hugs or excited words, but with a warm smile that reached her eyes and a knowing look.  Most importantly, he’d discovered, she was willing to share.

Aubrey’s lack of knowledge – of nature or anything else, really – didn’t seem to be a concern to her.  As she told him in those first days, it was an opportunity to learn and grow.  A blessing, plain and simple.  Now, all these weeks later and even though he still couldn’t tell an apple tree from a peach unless the fruit was present, she never showed concern but instead patiently explained it yet again.  Small successes were still successes, and who was he to argue with her?  And the very fact he could new tell the difference between those trees that produced fruit and those that were merely decorative was one such success.    

How could he not fall in love with this place?

I have had my agents do some digging into the Inquisitor’s background and I thought the following information might be of use to you.

Bann Markus Trevelyan and his wife, Lady Emilia, had six children.  The Inquisitor is the youngest.  When he was a child of eight, William was sent to train with the Templars. 

(Imagine my surprise when I discovered this was at the same time and place Cullen received his training!  He really ought to have told us, don’t you think?  We might have to speak with Cassandra about that!)

It is, apparently, tradition within the family for the younger children to serve within the Chantry in some fashion.  Of the six, the younger four were expected to do so; Annet as a revered mother and Regina and Ronan, twins just older than William, both as Templars.  The Inquisitor was to have become a Templar as well, but some unspecified incident right before he was to take his vows changed his mind and, despite his father’s insistence that he remain in the Order, William left. 

(Neither he nor Cullen have been forthcoming in response to my requests as to why.)

After leaving the Order, William returned to Ostwick.  I have been told the reunion between father and son did not go well.  Whether related to this or not, within two years of his return to Ostwick, both Bann Markus and Lady Emilia died.  William’s older brother, Malcolm, became Bann and has ruled since.  (The last sibling to mention, Lady Evelyn, is married into a noble family in nearby Markham and is a strong supporter of her brother and his efforts.)

Shortly thereafter, William became the captain of Bann Malcolm’s personal guards and served from then until the Conclave when he was sent here with three other siblings – Annet, Regina and Ronin – and a contingent of Trevelyan troops.  As we know, the Inquisitor is the only one of the delegation who survived.

From what I understand, William and the older brother and sister still living get on well enough, but that is the extent of what my agents have been able to discover.

Murr has called you Lanky as long as I've known her. But, they uh, they weren't the one who came up with it like they claim. Another Marine did… uh… shit, I always got his name wrong… Collins? Calding? Um…

Cauldins.

Yes! Cauldins said it one day, but Murray was the one who kept it going, got it to stick. Cauldins thought it was a stupid nickname, just something he threw out to brainstorm… but everyone went with it after Murray started calling you Lank.
