I’m stepping into the New Year remembering where it all started, 8 years ago, back when I was still tinkering with my papers and making plans for the future!

Here’s to another wonderful year with you all, filled with much happiness, color, and dreams!

Rylan stares at River as he speaks, somehow afraid that if he moves and even breathes this moment is broken somehow, he can feel how tears run down his cheek, for once not minding as they are happy tears. 

“Of course I will marry you!”

He lets himself sink down on his knees and although all the movies he had seen in his life told him he was supposed to wait until River put the ring on his finger, but he takes the ring, puts it on his finger and then kisses River deeply, wrapping his arms around his neck, happy small sobs coming into the kiss. River laughs, happiness taking the nervousness place as he wraps his arms around Rylan and kisses him deeply, brushing the tears off his cheek, though he too is crying, tears of happiness. He is going to marry, he is going to marry the man of his life, his princess, his love, his beloved Rylan.

“I love you so much! I am so happy! We're going to marry, Rylan! We are going to get married!”

Rylan curls up in River's arms like he has done so many times before, the arms where the world always felt better, safe and like home. 

“We are getting married!”

He chuckles happily, taking another look at the ring on his finger, before he kisses River. 

“I have two very important questions.”

Honestly he had three, but the last one he wouldn't push today.

“Can I get another swim with my fiancé.... and did he help you.. your master.. I might reconsider tripping and accidentally hit his face if he has helped you.”

He kisses River again, then just leans against him and watches him, looking at his ring on occasion.

“Yes. To both. He went to get the ring for me. I asked him when it gave him the phoenix. Also the frog spell is his and Faba's doing. I wasn't going to propose today. But after the day we had today, it felt right.”

He held Rylan close in his arms and kissed his head gently. A smile on his lips. He held his home, his love, his life, his everything, right there in his arms and everything felt right.

“I'll not stumble and accidentally hit him then.”

He smiles, once again looking at the ring on his finger, enjoying the feeling all off this gave.
