Just to let y'all know...
I've been in Australia for almost a month now, working with my relatives and also been exploring and meeting new people. It's been my first office job, but it's been a great experience. After not visiting after almost eight years, I've come back by myself (my longest international flight, actually), and I've gotten so close with my cousins. My three cousins and I work together, plus their parents, in the office, and it's like that everyday. It may seem like a suffocating environment to some, but I actually really enjoy it. You can be brutally honest about your opinion, and your work colleagues won't hold it against you or try to stab you in the back professionally. I'm working here in Australia to earn money to pay off my student loans by myself, instead of putting that debt on my family. I also came to be with my extended family who I haven't seen in ages. Since being here, there was nothing in Australia (the Sydney area, specifically) that I didn't fall in love with. The people are genuinely kind and polite; people are chummy without being creepy. Since I'm still underage in the states to go to bars and pubs, clubbing here is an amazing experience. Clubbing with my cousins and their mates is so fun, and you don't have to worry about being abandoned by your friends if you pass out in public. Apparently a lot of people don't know how to dance like we dance in the states, so when I danced, there was a little attention drawn around our group. Although I haven't had a lot of time to go out during the week because of work, I've had some pretty good food while I've been here. Me and my older cousin always go out to chicken shops for kebabs and burgers after we finish work, and my other cousin, Carolyn, and I always go out for ice cream and sushi. Where my family lives now, there's a beautiful trail that reminds me of back home in Humboldt. I've only hiked it once early one morning, but I plan to hike it more often. My family is actually moving closer to their office, which is in the Northern Beaches, and we're moving to a fourteen bedroom house right across from the beach. The house is a bit of a fixer upper, but it'll look so nice when it's furnished and renovated. I'm not gonna lie, but I haven't been the best at watching what and how much I eat here recently. I lost about ten pounds before I left California, and I probably gained that all back plus some while I've been here. I've been trying to exercise and eat healthy as much as possible, but something in my head makes me want to eat more food. It fucking sucks. I miss my boyfriend a lot, but I don't know if he misses me as much as I miss him. Recently he's been very nonchalant and kind of standoffish to me. Hopefully one day soon, I'll be able to meet a friend I met on omegle years back! I'm really excited, and hopefully we can see and hang out soon. :)
