Chronically magical

What if - and here me out- there was a story with a group of girls who-bear with me - all have a chronic illness ... and the powers they get are loosely based on their illness and thus kinda a gift from nature ?

Eg. The girl with mucoviscidosis/CF has the ability to control air (breathing problems); the girl with no legs can controll earth; the one with blood cancer has water powers (blood=water) and the one who has a heart disease can control fire (heartburns) ... and to round it all up, there is the blind leader but she has the 3rd eye and can "see" auras and energy

Side note: It would be really cool to shake things up and the blind girl is the loud and energetic one, while the fire girl is and will always be rather shy; the earth girl is the sweet rebel and total badass (think persephone) who totally doesn't have a crush on the classic and chic, slightly arrogant air girl who so does not like earth... or so she says (they bicker all the time)... and the water girl is the heart and soul of their little group who brought them all together

Side note 2: its be really cool to also have different ethical background to see how they deal with the illness etc.

And the air girl might look all classy and chic and come off as a rich bitch but is actually the poorest of them all, which is why she never wants to look like it

Since water is a very fluid element maybe her gender is also fluid

And so on .. thoughts ? Drawings?
