I completed my first 10K obstacle mud run today and it was a BLAST! I honestly wasn't too pumped to go this morning. I've been under a lot of stress at work and school. My mind has been a jumbled mess of anxiety and overwhelming priorities. I didn't even have time to review the welcome packet. I reluctantly got dressed and made it to the event. Good friends and support makes all the difference. We teamed up with my CKO members, did some warm-ups and took off from the start line. My previous (and only) mud run was a 5K and it was really challenging. My body gave up the last 20 minutes and I missed the greatest obstacle they had, a giant water slide. I was worried I would struggle this run, but I pushed through and finished with ease. I CRUSHED that slide today!!!! I love the support and team spirit at these runs. Everyone helps and cheers each other, whether you came together or have never met. I spent the afternoon with a great group of ladies. We proved our dedication and completed every obstacle as a team. Our bodies can do amazing things when we disregard the limits our minds set and with the support of others we are limitless.
Muderella
I have made a conscious decision to run a 5-7 mile MUD obstacle course the day after my prom. I’m crazy, right?
Good clean fun at a Muderella this weekend in Maine...
Hi everyone! On May 10th (the day before my 21st) I am running in a Muderella with one of my suite mates. As you may know, this run is all about overcoming obstacles, TOGETHER. This is such a worthy cause so please join me in donating and fundraising for Futures Without Violence.
Abuse and violence in the home are far more prevalent than one might realize, and really must be stopped. Futures Without Violence is an excellent organization dedicated to doing just that. Those who have been victims require help to recover and realize their priceless value and special place in this world.
I would greatly appreciate your support. If anyone is interested in donating please don't hesitate to inbox me. Thanks!
Ugh I want to participate in muderella so bad this year!!!
It's been eons!
Haven't been on in forever and only good news to update :) I kept up with running a couple of days a week right up until my internship. I worked my way to doing a full mile! I planned on continuing running throughout the internship but my body could not handle being so battered. I was basically bushwhacking my way on a mountain side with thirty pounds of equipment digging 20-30 holes a day. I loved every torturous minute of it. I was careful not to gorge myself, as it's a tendency when I feel I've done the "work" for it, and for all of that I ended up losing 8 pounds in 6 weeks! The number matters less to me than the overall feeling of being strong and accomplished, but hot tamale, that's a lot. Now that I'm back I plan on continuing running. Going to try to work my way to 3 miles before Muderella in September!
