slams open ur door. have i ever told u that Rio is a little bit illiterate but spending more time with Murdoc (who is very wordsy) and Russel (who is always saying something profound) she picks up some wild ass vocabulary.
Murdoc is extraordinarily patient with her and bc he knows SO MANY FUCKING LANGUAGES he randomly says things in like spanish or french and she picks up on them like they arent a different language.
when they first meet she very often lacks context and personal pronouns in her sentences and its not really noticed until Rio talks to Murdoc about school history and then hes like...... o h . . .!
my darling ! did you never learn this? and shes like . . . . . a lil defensive bc she knows she is intelligent in a lot of ways, she just doesnt have the vocabulary or reading comprehension,,, and hes like nono im not gonna be mean 2 u like i am with imbeciles online who simply dont bother to understand what i say,, and at first shes like i dont WANT TO LEARN and hes like okay! I never said u had to! and then she secretly is trying to learn from him anyways which ofc he Perceives and will Secretly Teach in a way that makes her think shes just Getting It
and 2D is like didnt u go to community college? (innocent question) and shes like YA I DID IT WAS NUMBERS THO STUART IT WAS NUMBERS .........
anyways she is Very Intelligent (she Gets people, she understands numbers and some formulas, abstract concepts, philosophy and psychology, how Lines Work in things like perspective and anatomy, shes very visual and conceptual just not very Wordsy) and literacy honestly has nothing to do with that, its just helpful for her to express her ideas much more easily once she picks up on structure and new words from Murdoc (and russel) especially.
