Every once in a while i am reminded that I was brought up by my dog. Which sounds weird as all hell and I agree but the fact of the matter is that my dog was more reliable, more attentive, and more caring than most people in my family, and when i was angry due to family nonsense I was trying to have some time alone, and he came up trying to ask for pets like normal, but i wanted to be alone and i got so angry and was yelling at him and the worst part was that there wasn't any guilt or sadness in those eyes of his. He was confused about why this boy who loves giving him pets was yelling at him, and he didn't even bring back junk this time. He was just a bystander of a burning fire, asking for a pet of those who were affected, maybe for his benefit but definitely to be there for those who need him. I couldn't be mad at him at that point. It wasn't pity, or guilt, or even necessity that brought him to me. He just wanted to be there with me and how the hell was i supposed to be mad. I sat down and gave him pets after, and try to bring that memory forward every day. Maybe my life can be shitty, but there's no point in not spending time with those who want to be with you.
