Jerome & I grew up, and first began working together in Okmulgee, Oklahoma (aka “Mug Town” in our circles). Okmulgee, the capitol of of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, is a small town just south of Tulsa with a population of about 12,000. It’s a trip to see locations we are VERY familiar with as locations in this great comedy series. Sterling Harjo, current Tulsa resident, is an award-winning filmmaker from Holdenville, OK. He’s a fellow alum of The University of Oklahoma film school with a handful of award-winning indie features under his belt. He co-created the series with Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi (JoJo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok.) Harjo himself is fully at the helm of Rez Dogs as Executive producer, showrunner, writer & director. This is the first comedy series in the history of television, created, written, directed by an all Indigenous team with a largely Indigenous cast. Catch it now on Hulu.
