Not So Alone
Ship: Aoi Asahina x Mukuro Ikusaba
The park was quiet, serene. Only one person could be seen sitting on a swing and pushing herself a little. She seemed lost, alone. The gentle rocking of the swing was calming, but her mind wouldn’t quieten for even a second. So many worries and concerns plagued the mind of the young soldier. She was eventually snapped out of it by a voice and someone snapping their fingers in her face.
“Mukuro? Are you okay?” Mukuro looked up to see her classmate Hina. They weren’t really friends up until this point, and barely knew each other. “You look super sad.” She sat down on the swing next to Mukuro’s, rocking herself back and forth in pace with Mukuro.
“I’m fine-“ she started to tell Hina that she was fine and didn’t need to talk, but the brunette swimmer wasn’t having any of it.
“Nope! You’re not fine, anyone can see that. Now, why don’t you tell me what’s bothering you. I won’t tell a soul, I promise.” Hina said insistently to her, turning to face her directly. Mukuro sighed and brought her swing to a sudden stop, holding the chains of the swing tightly in her grip as she told Hina.
“There’s this feeling inside. I don’t understand, but it’s like a weight pulling me down. I feel like I’m drowning. I feel so alone… and lost in the world. Hina, I…” she looked down, not even noticing the developing tremble in her arms. Hina was stunned. She’d rarely seen Mukuro on her own. She was always right at Junko’s side.
“Mukuro… are you lonely?” Hina asked softly, shuffling closer. Mukuro was normally so stoic and composed, far from the emotional way she was acting and feeling now. She turned her head away, getting embarrassed for just letting her troubles out like that. She likes to keep them in to feel the despair of her worries and in turn please Junko.
“Lonely… Mhm… I suppose…” Mukuro shrugged. She still didn’t know. That seemed to be a fitting term for how she was feeling. Hina wasted not time getting up and hugging Mukuro. She froze at first, but quickly melted into Hina’s comforting embrace. It had been far too long since she’d experienced a kind hug.
“You don’t need to feel lonely Mukuro.” Hina insisted, smiling and continuing to hug her. Her eyes met Mukuro’s as she continued to talk. “I’m here for you. If you ever want to talk, or just want some company, I’m right here for you.” She insisted, giving Mukuro a quick kiss on the tip of her nose before letting go and sitting back on her swing. Mukuro turned to look at her, managing to smile. It wasn’t much, but for her it was the most thankful and happy smile she could produce. Hina stood up and extended her hand to Mukuro, noticing her instant move increase. “Now, let’s go get some donuts. There’s a bakery around here that makes really tasty donuts. I’ll treat us to some!”
“I’d like that. Thank you, Hina.” Mukuro stood up and grabbed hold of Hina’s tanned hand, waiting to see which direction she’d go. She’d never been to any bakery around here. Hina excitedly lead Mukuro to the bakery, holding her hand the whole way there.
