I've never obsessed with the idea of a physical home. In an interview with @MajesticDisorder two years ago, I mentioned how the idea of 'home' is more of a feeling or emotion, than a physical space outside of me, and it moves along. While the last decade of my career has been filled with pace and movement, I've never not visited India for this long a period. This pandemic was a much needed pause that set me apart from homeland with series of unplanned events, which so far I've managed to channel positively to my inner growth and much needed self-discovery - an eternal work-in-progress template, unlike what Hollywood suggests. Being far away in the tropics of Bali, the one place in my heart the most is the mystic, majestic Himalayas, which I think is one of the most charged, magical, wild space that's unapologetically unexpected, diverse, and not yet Mcdonald-ised by globalisation. Home to some of the kindest tribes, mythologies and unicorn-stories, I've yet to learn so much about myself and this space. We're expanding. Last few two months have been both rushed and calm at the same time. I've been giving a break to the insta-game and working really hard on expanding my work beyond India. Proud to announce that the studio has a new collaborative base in South East Asia in Manggu, Bali and we're working with some of the greatest creatives in Indonesia, shooting campaigns in magical spaces across Cambodia, with socially driven brands from across 8 nations in the world. So much work was scrapped, and created again in the months (and a lot to do) but it's simply dreamy to turn your nights to fire and make magic happen. Pinched myself when I saw this huge billboard of myself hanging at the airport as I arrived back to India. Super proud to be the new face of @fabindianews - find me across their stores all over India and beyond for the new winter campaign. In 2012, when I first started my career documenting generational artisans across sustainable production units in India, I discovered the incomparably huge scale and impact of FabIndia across lives of artisans and preservation of generational fabric crafts. 8 years down the line, it feels nothing less than serendipitious to be their face - thanks to everyone who's been sending me photos from all across the nation.
