So Mulan has a deleted song "Keep them guessing" which is basically Mushu hyping Mulan up before going to the camp and pretending to be a dude. One line is "But if they don't ask, don't tell."
Dont ask Dont tell was a US military policy from 1993 to 2011. Which was basically if you are queer and quiet you can stay. However, if you're open about it or caught in a queer relationship, you'd get kicked out.
Mulan came out in 1998. I'm not saying that this line was put in on purpose, but I'm saying this line was put in on purpose.
