🌿Plant of the Week🌱 What is Mullein? 🌱Mullein (Verbascum Thapsus) is commonly known as a pesky weed in your yard or garden, however, what many people don't know, is that this plant has many health benefits 🙂 🌿Mullein is a beautiful plant that can grow up to 7 ft tall, has a single stem and produces yellow flowers with velvety leaves. This amazing plant has been used for centuries since ancient times before modern medicines, to treat various inflammatory diseases (asthma, bronchitis, chest colds, sore throats, ear infections). 🌱It is a natural expectorant and helps remove excess mucus from the lungs and is also good for relieving bone and joint pain, diarrhea and promoting healthy lymphatic flow. It can also be used as a poultice to help decrease inflammation with cuts, edema. 🌿In my childhood, I remember my grandmother making a poultice with mullein leaves and lard and wrapping my foot with it after I stepped on a rusted nail playing in the barn. In no time, my wound healed...This powerful plant is a natural polysporin! 😉 🌱Mullein can be used in teas, tinctures, salves, syrups. Here is a Mullein Elderberry Tea recipe:☕👇 Ingredients: - 2 cups of water - 1 Tbsp dried Elderberries - 1 Tbsp dried mullein herb - Raw honey (Manuka or any type to your taste) Directions: - Add the elderberries to the water and bring to a boil - Simmer for 15 minutes - After 10 minutes, add the mullein and keep simmering for 5 more minutes) - Turn off the burner and let it steep for about 5 mins. The elderberries take longer to cook than the mullein. Berries simmer longer than flowers. *Strain, sweeten, let cool and enjoy!!! #theholistichealinghub🌱🌿 #mulleinleaftea #benefitsofmullein #plantoftheweek #herbalism #herbalteas #thepowerofplants https://www.instagram.com/p/CVK7YqIq0Vx/?utm_medium=tumblr
