What your favorite head canon for Dean, Cas, Sam, and/or Jack?

I had to think about this for a bit! I have a lot of head canons I really love and picking my favorites is hard. So I've got some lists. With both silly and serious head canons:

Dean: I do really like the gay Dean head canon. Dealing with comp het and preformatting heterosexality/masculinity is such a heartbreaking story to explore with Dean.

(Bonus: Mary is a lesbian also dealing with comp het. She never really liked men, but there was something about John that made her go for it. But no other man really did it for her. Ketch was an attempt at normalcy.)

If he wasn't forced into hunting then Dean would have been a teacher. We've seen how he interacts with kids/teens and he's always trying to teach them something. I, specifically, think he'd be a literature teacher because of his love of not just books- but other little references he makes to media.

Dean is That Guy(tm) who 'hates animals' but then will go out and buy the poor dog a hamburger because he's just so hungry. He says he doesn't want a pet and an hour later he's got the cat in his lap as they watch tv (he has taken his allergy meds). But remember, he hates animals.

Dean names objects he's attached to. That includes his favorite gun, his favorite spatula, and favorite knife. (And his car)

Dean has ADHD.

Sam:

Sam doesn't actually like veggie bacon. But Dean made a big deal of buying it one time, and now he will be eating and pretending to enjoy it.

Before Mary came back to life, if someone asked him to describe his mom his first impulse is to describe Dean. It's who he pictures when he thinks of a mom.

Later seasons Sam DID work with Rowena to get witch powers- but the show just never showed them to us. That man is a witch.

Amelia, from Season 8, was never real. Sam really did have a mental breakdown.

Building on that, Sam's blurry wife is blurry because she's a siren that can't figure out what Sam wants. Dean Jr. Isn't real either.

On a less sad note: Sam is That Ally(tm) that took one gender/queer studies class in university and now thinks he knows everything.

Cas:

Cas has had feelings for Dean since he pulled him out of hell. He didn't understand them until around the end of Season 5. Knowing that Dean didn't give into Michael made something click for him.

Cas is a pocket hoarder. He just has all kinds of stuff in his pockets at all times. You need a dressmaker's tape measure? He has one in his coat pocket. You need a dog collar? He's got that too. He just finds lost items and takes them with him.

Cas likes bees, but his favorite animals are cats. He likes being able to pet their fur. The texture is nice under his hands and it helps him when emotions are a Bit Much.

Cas is autistic.

Cas' favorite TV is trashy reality shows. He doesn't understand why anyone would watch them- but he keeps getting dragged into them. There's something about them that just. Makes him keep coming back.

Nonbinary Cas! I have a 7K word wip about nonbinary Cas because it's so important to me. Yes, he's gender fucky in an Angel way, but also in a human way. Even if he's human he just doesn't feel male or female. He's just some third thing (agender/gender fluid/???).

Cas' favorite sex position is 'anything that lets me look into Dean's eyes'. (He doesn't have a preference for top or bottom or anything. As long as it's Dean AND he gets to look into his eyes).

Jack:

Jack is vindictive when he wants to be. He's normally kind, but when someone hurts his family he will find a way to make them pay.

Jack is nonbinary, as well. He just doesn't understand why gender even matters. There are much more important things happening.

Jack's favorite Disney movie is The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. There's something about the main character being half human and feeling like they don't fit in with others that really hits him deep.

Jack did make himself look like a combo of Cas and Dean on purpose. He wants to look like his family.

If he had to have a legal name, he'd want Winchester as his middle name. He wants to keep his mom's name as his last name, but wants that connection to the rest of his family, too.

That's all I've got for the moment! My head canons kind of change with the world- so if I'm doing an AU then I'll adjust.

Do you have any fics you read on rotation as sort of like, palate cleansers when you’ve read something really intense or that sat too deeply with you?

It doesn’t have to be fanfiction, it can be any kind of media that helps reset after reading or writing something intense?

I had to think about this one for a few days, but I do have some media I keep going to if I'm feeling overwhelmed or tense.

For non-fanfic stuff: I normally go to shows I watched as a kid that's lighter. I try to avoid anything I need to think about too hard, or my mind starts to go back to whatever's heavy. My normal go-tos are:

Pokémon (First season) Magic School Bus (Old version) Beauty and the Beast (Cartoon) Aristocats Lady and the Tramp 2

They're all colorful, not super deep, and help make me feel less in my head when I feel tense and overwhelmed.

As for fandom: Sometimes I reread things I've written AND the comments on it to remind myself that people like my writing and that I can keep on going even if I'm not overly happy with what I'm working on. Otherwise I don't think I have a specific fanfic I go back to every time I need a palate cleanser. Normally I search for a tag that brings me joy and find one that seems happy/fluffy. The tags I tend to frequent in this mindset:

When chat isn’t bullying you into writing something, where do you get your ideas from?

Gasp! Question for Mullet!

When not being bullied by chat (in the most affectionate way) my ideas come from a few different places:

My brain comes up with a line of dialogue for a character and then I create whole fics around it. I'm not sure where the dialogue comes from, but it just kind of enters my mind and then I enjoy it. (Most of them are still in my wip folder. But some include: "Dean, I'm lesbian" //"Heaven teaches abstinence only? I'd have thought that was made by hell." // "It's not Scooby Doo, it's just a brown and black Great Dane themed cafe. And his friends are totally not the mystery gang. It's just different enough to count. They ride around in a 67' Impala. Totally different than a van." // "I'm sorry, is this really the time to come out?" "We're probably going to die soon, so yes.") Sometimes it's a phrase, but normally it's a line of dialogue that comes to me and then my brain creates stuff that goes with it. I try to figure out why they're saying those lines. And then everything else kind of comes to me after that. That normally leads me to a scene or two that I really like. And then I add on from there (I am really bad about writing in order. I tend to bounce around when my brain gets tired of a scene or I get stuck)

2. Sometimes it's from other media I'm experiencing but while I'm bored. Honestly it's normally when I'm in class. I've got somethings I've taught for years and sometimes my mind wanders and goes 'what fandom can I put here'. And then while I give out worksheets or put on a video, I build things around it. I really started thinking about my Pokemon/Spn crossover while shiny hunting in a game. It was a reset method so I didn't need to do too much thinking about the game. So instead I thought about Dean and Pokemon. Then when I mentioned it on Discord, I had others weigh in and help out with expanding on it. Sometimes I'm thinking about the themes of what I'm talking about in class and how it can apply to fandoms. (I have one I'm really proud of, but I've been trying to use it for a bang for awhile now so I think I'll keep it to myself).

3. Sometimes I just think something would be really funny/angsty/emotion here and go ham with it. I've always been big on melodrama and exaggerated emotions in works. I do think misunderstanding is really funny when it's stupid. I love two person love triangles that keep the characters up all night. Sometimes I think of an idea and go 'how can I make this the MOST dramatic nonsense. Or the FUNNIEST thing ever.

(Also, a lot of times I bounce ideas off of people and that helps me more than almost anything else. I say bullied or peer pressured, but I'd be nowhere without the friends I've made in discord servers helping me along the way~)

A lot of your followers are probs like 'what the f is going on????¿¿' 😂 Horlolo was already an attack and a half, and I saw the build up pictures and passed out multiple times, but the mullet in action has me SHOOKETH TO THIS DAY¡¡ Same with JB's mullet! I remember when I saw it, I screeched to my friend and she was like 'it's a clip on' and I kid you not, I was genuinely sad when she said that😂 I have no idea what makes me love the mullets so much, but it's #goldencontent

Horolo was a bop i used to love (still do) ko ko pop but horolo and blooming days took its place and im not mad

I'm a weirdo bc I have a thing for guys with long hair😂 one of the reasons I biased Jeonghan from Seventeen was because of his long hair, and I have a major crush on Neil from Teen Top bc H A I R. Baekhyun's mullet shook me to my core, and now all these idols have mullets!! And my ult is Chen from EXO, and he's got a mullet and I lOVE

OMG! if you say you are a weirdo for having a thing for hair than count me in on that too. I love my men with nice long hair. I just want to touch it and braid it and make them all pretty (mess it up). And talking about chen, girl lemme tell you when i saw him with that mullet i just died i never knew how much i would like it on him, he really did look good with that baby mullet.

I'm con B.A.P mullets because in my opinion, Jongup and Himchan simple didn't look good in them😂 I'm a Himchan bias and a mullet lover, so it takes a lot for me to say that I don't like it. I believe if Jongup's wasn't two toned and if they didn't pair the mullet with certain outfits, we would've looked better. As for Himchan, I just think he doesn't have the looks to pull off the mullet (which that doesn't mean I think he's ugly, don't come for me)

ohhh thats what you meant!! i understand what you mean thb. i for one am not that much of a mullet person but some of them kpop men really pull off and others i just want to pull it off *cough cough* im jaebum ;)
