We are in the middle of a geomagnetic storm right now. The Sun is raging on this, the 15 year anniversary of the Mullivaikkal Massacre in Tamil Eelam, the 7th month of Israel’s genocidal bloodbath (and 76 years since the Nakba) in Palestine and a year of ethnic cleansing taking place in Sudan.

Remembering is resisting. #may18 #mullivaikal #Repost @tyouk (@get_repost) ・・・ Nine years ago, the Sri Lankan state slaughtered thousands of Tamils in a deliberate and systematic attack. It is important to remember that this was not the last stages of the war or a one off act as the Sri Lankan State and the International Community claims it to be. Genocidal acts against Eelam Tamils have been a process that the Sri Lankan state constantly carried out over the years. We have seen this through many events - to name a few: the burning of the Jaffna Public Library in 1981, attempting to destroy knowledge and our ancestral history, anti-Tamil pogroms since independence (the biggest being in 1983), Sencholai bombings in 2005, etc. This was a war that had witnesses. But, the international community decided to turn a blind eye on the atrocities that took place in the homeland, and acted to guard their political and economic interests. Conflict of interests between the international community and the Tamil nation's cause continued to exist. The international community's interest dominated regardless of the number of lives lost - all witnesses and evidence had gone ignored. We need to understand that the act of ethnic cleansing is still evident. Examples of such include land grabbing, forced Sinhala habitation into the North-East and increased militarisation - a vicious attempt to make demographic changes to alienate the Tamil nation. #scarsofmullivaikal #genocide #tamils #eelam #mullivaikal
