I do still want to work for IDW Sonic one day but after almost a year of no dice and having FINALLY been able to put my focus on developing an original Indie comic project I ADORE with my whole heart--I think I've made peace with the fact that the former may never happen?

I'll keep submitting my portfolio, of course. I don't want to just give up after spending the better part of two-to-three years working toward it but... I dunno. I'm happy with the world I'm creating on my own. If I could work on Spectral Man for the rest of my life I think I would be happy.

I love Sonic but if its not in the cards, it's not in the cards and that's okay. I appreciate everyone who's supported me thus far and continue to support me cos there's like... 2000 of you guys now and that's super cool.

SECRET PROJECT TITLE DROP

Thank you for all the asks. Sending in asks, being curious about the project, liking/rebloging posts about the project--it helps us know that this thing could, you know, really be a THING. The only way its going to get made is with your guys' help after all!

You've been really patient these last few months, dealing with my secret excitement over blorbo and his world. While we can't drop any actual art/content just yet, I can, official give you the title:

SPECTRAL MAN and the LIGHT BRIGADE™

Haven't listened to the latest Chaotix Case Files episode YET, but I need to state my theory that myself (and bestie @wnacn) are going feral over: the idea that the Sonic Vector's telling his story too may actually be the shape changer.

AND I WANT TO STATE THIS EARLY--cos if we're right it's a helluva loose thread to tie, but... Imagine the Imposter wanted Vector to tell his story cos it would lead the Imposter to the lenses they're after. Imagine Sonic coming to rescue Vector only to see himself in a cage. The absolute hilarity. The idea that Sonic hasn't been involved this entire time up until the end.

PLEASE DUDE IT WOULD BE SO FUNNY.

I'm always worried no one is gonna care about original content so the immense amount of support from family and friend @veeloopz and I are receiving behind the scenes on our Secret Project (tm) makes me extremely happy.

I need you guys to know we're cooking so so hard and I am so so excited.

Get hyped cos the world we're developing is phenomenally fun!!!

Work on the pilot comic for Spectral Man and the Light Brigade™  starts tomorrow and I am... so incredibly HYPED.

There really is something to be said about being able to get invested in your own original characters, especially in the way @veeloopz and I have managed to.

The ability to create something uniquely yours is such a powerful thing but it is INCREDIBLY hard to do alone because, unlike with fandom, you really have to cheerlead yourself on. There's no pre-existing culture or investment around the fiction to support you--it's just you and your silly little words and pictures. You can't just go on tumblr and look up art and fiction from other creators, y'know?

That's why it's been such a powerful thing for me, as a creator who struggles to create in a "void" like this to have Vee as my creative partner. She's my hype-man and I'm hers. We fuel each others passion by constantly bouncing this world between us like a volleyball. We don't have to cheerlead ourselves, we create for each other. Inside jokes become plot just to make each other laugh. You wanna see a character in a costume? She'll draw it and I'll be inspired to write about it or vice versa.

All this to say--and as corny as it is to say--I've found the best way to create something wonderful is to do so for yourself AND your friends. Because Spectral Man is the best thing I've ever made and WE can't wait for you all to meet him.

SPECTRAL MAN and the LIGHT BRIGADE™ NEWSLETTER

Last week was a bit of a drag due to sickness, but we did finish everything we set out to do! So yay to us on that front!

NEWS THIS WEEK ON SPECTRAL MAN:

15 pages have been fully pencilled! This week we hope to get another 6 done in total.

The first "part" of the 48-page pilot should be fully penciled by next week. Then we're gonna take a rest week to do a bunch of inking and one last piece of concept art before we move on to the last twenty! Woo!

Vee was originally slated to color the entire issue with myself on flats. We decided to save both our sanities it would be better if I took half the pages. I wonder if you guys will be able to tell who drew and colored what when the issue starts releasing?

Spectral Man is ambidextrous! He used to switch hands in little league depending on who was pitching. A menace truly.

SECRET PROJECT NEWSLETTER

The past week has been slightly painful but with a lot of progress made!! Woohoo!

This weeks blorbo forecast features several clear skies and a few cloudy days!

NEWS THIS WEEK ON SECRET PROJECT (tm):

Pencils on the Prologue are being completed today! @veeloopz has cooked incredibly hard on them. We keep commenting on how much we love blorbo. I've almost cried several times. There's nothing as rewarding as watching your blorbo blorb.

MoarInksInksInksInks with a light sprinkling of colors! For me, at least. I used to hate coloring, but I've since come around. Having too much fun me thinks...

The Prologue should be completed by next week. Then its on to the actual Pilot. I dunno exactly how long its gonna take before we can actually start releasing this thing but winter this year? Perhaps? Hopefully? It'll be worth the wait. Promise.
