Summary: A compilation of stories, songs, and poems native to Korea or about Korea.

Reflection: It was cool to see the differences between the snowman in the book and snowmen as we know them.  I felt that it would be difficult for a child to read this book without the assistance of an adult.  And the illlustrator names were a pain in the butt to write out.

Summary: Shows the different uses for a Rezobo (an enlarged scarf-blanket hybrid thing.)

Reflection: Uses different family members (ie. brother, sister, cousins, grandmother) to facilitate recognition of the relationship to the little girl.  I didn't really like the fact that they never came out and said what a rezobo is and what it's traditionally used for, but I also realize why they didn't do that.  It would have detracted from the purpose of their book if they had come straight out and said what a rezobo is traditionally used for.

Reflection: This book does a good job depicting how slave families would get split up back in the day.  I felt that this book was a bit wordy and that there should have been more pictures.  The potential for a school age child to sit down and read this book without being directed to do so by their teacher is virtually zero because it's a bit too wordy and not interesting to the vast majority of children.  I felt like this book was targeting children in the deep south who had ties to the native americans in that area.

Reflection: I liked that this book was in both Spanish and English.  The characters represented what I thought of as more of an inner city population.  Since I've never lived in a big city, I felt that it wasn't very culturally relevant to me as a reader and I am worried that children who have not lived in an urban setting might draw the same conclusions about this book that I drew.
