Aggressive Negotiations
Guard assignments were the worst, but they unfortunately tended to pay the best especially when the one being guarded was high ranking, in this case, the president of a multi-world mining group.
Cold and hard-headed, N’wk made many enemies over the years and rarely left the protection of his home-world headquarters, however surveys had shown that Umla-3 had an untapped bounty of minerals waiting to be exploited. He’d sent several negotiators to their government but had made little headway; they wanted to speak to him, in person.
That was where she’d come in, hired for an exorbitant amount; she’d argued that she didn’t do guard assignments as a rule and he’d argued that the best defense against assassins....was another assassin. Finding his logic and amount sound, she’d accepted.
Negotiations were not going well. They’d been there a week with no compromised reached and civility was becoming strained to the point that a Jedi had been called in to help things along and prevent a war from breaking out.
Fricka glanced at the sun; he was due any moment. She wasn’t happy with it as she’d tangled with the Jedi before, both good and bad occasions, but she was nothing but a guard in this case... she had no say.
The meeting room was filled with a tense silence and she was the only one moving, slowly pacing back and forth along the window behind her client, heavy boots silent on the smooth flooring, only pausing when the door hissed open and a lackey stepped in to announce the Jedi.
