one thing i really appreciate my parents modelling for me was honour and love towards their parents and seniors. other than the regular family visits and allowance, my mum would take time out to visit her aunts and best friend's mum, taking them out to lunch. i would also always see the elderly men enjoying their conversations with my father during family dinners. I'm probably the worst at interacting with older people, especially since my chinese and dialects suck so bad. but God can give anyone compassion and lots of mercy. mercy comes in the form of the most understanding and caring mum in law who looks out for me a whole lot more than i do for her. and compassion makes me want to spend more time visiting, calling and loving on my grandmas, even if i don't know what to say or where to take them. my grandma shared with me that she appreciated us taking her out, even though we were busy with our own lives (we forgot to prepare enough cash for dinner and she ended paying for half of it -.-). and it reminds me everytime i spend time with family that more important than money, they appreciate our time and presence. sometimes they just want to hold our hand. hug your mothers, somebody. + picture of my grandmas standing in the aisle looking on as i was walking in. imagine walking down to my groom, the pastor and my grandmas.. unforgettable. #mumadvocate (my time on this is running out fast!) #familyfirst #bepresent
