I was wondering if you had any ideas how I can rat proof my room so my rats can free range? I don't play with them as often as I should, and so their cage stinks quickly as they chew on their blanket and pee on the tray and chew the tray. My parents say I don't clean it, but I know its because they need to be out more. I know they wouldn't be open to me letting them out but they need to be. How do I rat proof my bedroom?

So sorry for the late reply, I've been out of town!Firstly you want to make sure that any escape routes are blocked off, that there isn't a lot of hidey holes (such as furniture they can get under or behind) they can decide they don't want to leave. Also make sure that all chewable things are well away from the floor especially cables. Anyone else have any suggestions for anon?

My rats never seem very interested in me when I get them out to play, they run over me etc but they don't like to linger. I'm worried that they haven't bonded to me? They're both boys and I've had them for about five months. Thankyou!

They just might not be the cuddly type, some rats just like to explore.If you want to try and get them to interact with you more though you should use treats to entice them over to you, let them know that if they want the treat they have to hang out with you :)

I think my rats may have pneumonia, how much does antibiotics cost? Or can I cure them myself?

I'm considering getting rats in sometime in the future but I was wondering if they potty on you when holding them like other rodents do.

Baby rats tend to pee on you, but that usually stops as they get older. When they are older they may still sent mark you.

to over-weight rat bb ask!! less store bought food and more veggies!! like keep the store bought food but like half the portions and chunk up carrots and celery etc.!!

How can I help my rat lose weight? He is obese and has little energy.

I suggest cutting down on any high fat treats and encouraging him to play
