https://docs.google.com/document/d/100emXAQRtt3PhB8eQqILX_WetMTN7TJzPKfQPeB-Qqg/edit
IM CURRENTLY LIVE EDITING THIS DOC WITH UPDATES AND REPOSTING THIS SO ITS EASIER TO FIND I AM LOOSING MY MIND OMG
“Is this thing on?” “It's coming and I can’t find anyone else. Where are you?” “I’m by pacific. Please. Where are you? which one are you?” “
What's all this Mumbo ARG business anyway? aka, an introductory post/summary of the Mumblr ARG.
The Mumblr ARG, as it's kind of come to be called, is a story-slash-puzzle game run by the person behind tumblr blog thatmumbojumbo. Currently, the identity of the Game Master is unknown, other than that they are confirmed to not be Mumbo and that the ARG is unofficial and non-canon.
The story of the ARG thus far is sort of an alternate timeline/canon divergence following the HCBBS in season 7-- in the ARG, it was an invasion by beings called Extra-Server Void Entities or ESVE, and they captured all the hermits and sent them on to Season 8, sans a few memories of the invasion. Mumbo managed to hide during the invasion and as a result got stuck on the Season 7 world with a replacement Mumbo taking his place in Season 8, and now the messengers (that's us! the players of the ARG!) are trying to find a way to safely get him out of the Season 7 world before it's destroyed.
There's a couple other character blogs for the ARG. In order of appearance: mumbojjumbo (a blog acting as a "journal" for ARG Mumbo with asks off), esve-esve (a contact line to the ESVE), ggrian (s8 Grian, has sent asks to thatmumbojumbo as well as answering asks sent to him), and ren-the-dog (s8 Ren, same case as ggrian but with a bit more lore).
If you want a more thorough breakdown of all the events and posts in chronological order, @aestheticallynotdeerlightful (our beloved ARG Archivist!) has a masterdoc of literally everything relating to the ARG pinned on their blog, which includes a link to a discord server for this ARG!
Hopefully this has shed some light on the situation. If anyone wants to join us in solving the ARG, we're happy to have you, and if you just wanted a bit of context around the ARG, I hope this has helped!
I'll sign off on this post the same way I do my asks:
- Lyric, Messengers Initiative
so i took this image, right
and i plugged it into reverse google image search and tineye.
there were no results.
either that’s a photoshop job, or it’s real.
but whatever it is, it hasn’t been stolen from a mumbo tweet or community post or anything.
And with the end of Season 8 comes the end to Mumblr.
Uh. Yup. I’m GM, Alexis, the Atbash Speaker, Mumblr, whatever you want to call it. Me? But YEA!!!
Howdy everyone! I just wanted to say thank you. It’s been a long 2 month road and you all helped me to create my first ever ARG. (Something I’ve wanted to do for so many years now...) Big thanks to the archiving players, the discords, and the Messengers Initiative that formed.
The story of the ARG changed a lot and I have so much scrapped stuff and special info so I’m open to questions, of course. The most notable change was that the original ending I had planned had Mumbo being... killed. Yea. Gotta say the one we ended up with was a lot better. Once again, without my players I could never have molded the story into what it is.
This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life and I can’t thank you all more. Thank you.

So your moon is big
Server Collapses are a type of natural and induced disaster. They can be set up by an admin of the affected server, started by a virus, or even from server jamming. Collapses might be hard to detect until it is too late.
Luckily there are warning signs of such disasters! If you notice any of these symptoms in your worlds, evacuate immediately and have an admin review the code.
Signs of a Server Collapse:
- Odd mob behaviour (grouping, strange deaths, physical changes)
- Earth/ground quakes
- Abnormal day-night cycles
- Larger-than-normal celestial bodies
- Unsourced paranoia or memory loss in players
- Abnormal amount of rain and/or thunderstorms
- Unknown mobs appearing
- Consistent glitching
- Repeated redstone failure
A server cannot be brought back after collapse and all players left inside will be unreachable. Collapse is a dangerous thing and if possible, all servers should have a plan in event of one. Most servers should have a backup save made every few days so a copy can be made.

mARTch day 12 - monochrome [except the middle one was done a day late-]
Oops - sorry. i wasn't clear: by "he's off trying to solve Moon Big," i meant FAKE Mumbo might be off trying to fix things, the Mumbo who might be an agent of whoever's in charge of this matrix/simulation.
ooh ok, that makes sense!
