Fallen clenches the dagger before bursting into the house. A flash of white light flies across the room to Roman from her fingertip before she charges forward to the protector. "Good day, Alex." She mumbles his name under her breath and stabs Alex in the shoulder.
"Get the fuck aw-" He doesn't finish his sentence before he's stabbed in the shoulder, and he grits his teeth as he takes the dagger out. He can deal with the wound later. He needs to make sure she doesn't do anything else to Roman, who's passed out as soon as the light touches him.
Black ropes made of pure nightmare magic rise from the ground and wrap around Alex's legs, forcing him to stop before she walks over and then in between him and Roman. She spreads her wings open and smiles darkly.
The magic feels like poison in his system, showing him momentary mirages of his nightmares, the creatures, of Roman begging, dead even. But they only last for a second in his head before they flicker gone or to something else. And he's so dizzy trying to think through it, to fight Fallen. It shows in how he speaks. "Get. Away from him. Now."
"I'm not doing anything to him, Alex." She chuckles, sitting in front of the protector. Her wings have blocked his view of Roman. "But maybe I should. Don't you think?"
"Don't you fucking dare. You've done enough to him, you and your horrible family." Alex blinks away angry tears at what he keeps seeing in his head.
Her smile falters when he talks about her family. She pulls out a knife from her pocket and throws it to Alex, cutting his arm before pinning on the wall behind him.
"What? Can't stand to hear what poor innocent Demon did to him? He was a monster, just like you, you little gremlin. And you deserve the same as what he got." His words are just as challenging even as he holds his arm to stop the bleeding.
"Shut you mouth Alex, or I'll bring your dear Roman down to hell for my brother." She glares at him, digging his nightmares out and pushing it to him. The black ropes tighten around his leg to stop him from escaping.
"Why hurt him when you have your real fucking target in front of you, then? We both know it's not him you're angry at, bitch." His words come out weaker then before, less steely.
"I said, shut. Your. Mouth." She slaps him across the face before materializing another knife and stabs him again on the same shoulder.
Alex swallows a scream, and pretends he still has his childish pride from when he was snapped. His sword arm is useless, and his other hand... well, he's too shaky to try to fight with his non-dominant hand right now. The only thing he can do now to keep Roman safe is distract. Distract as long as he can, and hope it's good enough for her. No matter what that means for him. "Yes, let's listen to everything the homicidal toddler is telling me to do. Definitely. I'll get right on that."
She pins him to the wall right next to the knife, squinting her eyes as she smiles twistedly. Tightening her grip on his throat, she pulls the knife out from the wall and laughs. "You're so screwed, Alex."
"Prove it. See if you can show that bastard up, make him proud, be my fucking guest." He stares fate in the eye, hoping, knowing this is the best he can do, even as the words are more choked.
She pushes the knife into his chest slowly, inch by inch. She smiles innocently as she folds her wings neatly behind her back, whispering softly, "Wonder how he'll do after losing his little protector." She stops what she's doing and glances back to Roman.
Roman is still sleeping, however more restlessly due to what is going on around him. "He won't... be alone..." Alex can hardly force the words out, but he tells himself this is for the best, he's doing his job.
"Say hi to Apo for me." She smiles before pushing the blade deeper, stabbing right into his heart. "Farewell." She stares at Alex blankly for a moment before pulling the knife out casually and starts cleaning. Tears start to pool as she presses her lips against the blade. Demon gave it to her.
Roman wakes up to the sight and for a moment, just a moment, he thinks it's a nightmare. But he could never dream up something like this. Not even when Alex wasn't Alex. And his eyes widen. "Alex? Are... Are you... say somethings. You gotta says somethings." But Alex is silent, Alex is dead, with a pool of blood around him where he'd collapsed. Roman gets up and runs over to him, shoving Fallen to get to him. "Get aways! Get aways from him!"
She doesn't stop Roman, neither does she say anything about shoving her aside. She knows how it feels to lose a brother. Eyes glancing back to Alex's dead body through her tears for one last time, she leaves wordlessly.
He's shaking, half in disbelief, and half determined to keep anyone and everyone away. He won't let anyone near. Not Red, not Lo-Lo, not Darkness, not anyone. Not even to console him.
