I don’t know much about Thomas Seymour and charles Brandon. What do you mean about them being the same?
I love both Mary Tudor, Queen of France and Catherine Parr with a passion but writing about their men I am not a huge fan of doing. Do I believe Mary and Catherine were in love with their men?, yes, the men?, eeeeh.
Gonna put a read more here. I am not a Thomas Seymour apologist at all and actually very very much hate him, Charles I am just ick about tbh.
Their marriage histories/romantic interests and age gaps with their romantic interests is very similar. Charles had a very interesting marital history pre Mary, having married Margaret Neville who was roughly 20 years his senior only to have it declared null and void in 1507 he then went onto marry her step-niece in 1508, Anne Browne - who he married twice, once in private then once in public (like his marriage to Mary) - they had two daughters. Pre marriage Seymour had looked to marry Mary Howard the widow of Henry FitzRoy before the death of Henry VIII and after his death he looked to Mary I and Elizabeth I before settling for Catherine.
They both married quite hastily to their much wealthier wives Mary Tudor and Catherine Parr - both Queen Dowagers who had no children and were both quite recently widowed. Also how fast they both looked to marry or married after the death of their much more wealthier wives - both to similar aged women who were both wards or had been wards in their household, Catherine Willoughby and Elizabeth I who were in their teens and had quite an inheritance.
**disclaimer - though there are no stories of Brandon being manipulative or abusive physically, sexually or mentally to his wives or romantic interests**.
Both were also said to be handsome and had quite the careers inside the court, Charles being quite the soldier and Thomas being quite the naval officer. Plus they got on well with Henry VIII.
How do you incorporate your opera past into your craft? Do you think spells could be influenced by whether or not you sing them?
I think that music is one of the most magical things in our world. It’s something that anyone can access and appreciate. Singing spells can definitely impact them and make them stronger. Melodies carry emotion and intent just like spoken word does and the two combined are powerful. I sometimes do it when I’m chanting, I’ll let the words marry themselves to a melody and the melody will develop and lead into a sort of musical meditative state.
