I'm so used to Tuggers who are a bit stand-offish and make cats beg for their attention that Des Flanagan's was an utter delight: he will love all his cats and he will make it their problem because he's an equal-opportunity weighted-blanket nuisance, good for him.

Mungojerrie stretched to the fullest and yawned hugely. His tail whipped as he resettled into the thin beam of weak sunlight. Who kept watches in the middle of winter, anyway? No cat in their right mind was going to try taking over when everything was frozen. He laid his head on his paws and curled up tight against the cold.

Stupid responsibilities.

Mungojerrie yawned again, eyes screwing shut.

“Sleeping on the watch already?”

“I’m awake!” Mungojerrie jerked up, ears pushed forward. He blinked at nothing, then looked down and grinned. “Tugger!”

The Rum Tum Tugger stood with his paws loosely hooked into his belt. He cocked his head. “You were expecting someone else?”

“Thought mebbe you were Straps.”

“Would be like him to watch the watcher,” Tugger agreed, rolling his eyes.

Mungojerrie snickered. He sat up, nodding hopefully at the space next to him. “Wanna join me?”

“Bored already?”

“Critically.”

“You’ve been at it for fifteen minutes.”

“How d’you know?” Mungojerrie smirked slyly. “Watching me?”

Tugger smirked back. “Would it make you happy if I was?”

Mungojerrie decided his ears needed fastidious grooming. Honestly. Tugger knew the answer and he knew that Mungojerrie knew. Tugger chuckled knowingly, rolling his shoulders in a lazy stretch. Mungojerrie hissed halfheartedly at him.

“Well,” Tugger drawled. “I must do my duty to provide succor to all bored cats.”

He leaped up to the oven and circled to make himself comfortable. Their sides brushed lightly several times until Tugger settled at Mungojerrie’s side. They sat in silence for a while. Then Tugger pushed his shoulder into Mungojerrie’s. Mungojerrie glanced at him, found him looking out over the junkyard with a tiny smile playing at the corners of his lips, and nudged back.

“Attacked!” Tugger wailed, going boneless against Mungojerrie, “Betrayed!”

“Oy!” Mungojerrie laughed and jabbed his elbow lightly into Tugger’s side. “Get off ya big lug.”

Tugger whined dramatically. “Double-crossed and deceived!” He slid into Mungojerrie’s lap, closing his eyes and going limp. There was a beat of silence and then he opened his eyes. “Actually, this is quite nice. I think I’ll stay here.”

Mungojerrie swallowed. “S-sure. If you want?”

“I do,” Tugger rolled over just a little, pulling his long legs in to tuck himself around Mungojerrie and kneading absently at Mungojerrie’s thigh.

“I... thought you didn’t like cuddles?”

“From humans,” Tugger said, making a face. “Always drooling into my fur.”

Mungojerrie bit back a snicker. He ran his fingers through Tugger’s mane; a moment later, purring vibrations rose to meet the careful stroking of his claws. Tugger yawned and snuggled closer. Mungojerrie decided discretion was the better part of valor.

“Hey.”

Mungojerrie looked down. “Hm?”

Tugger’s eyes glinted in a way that made Mungojerrie’s stomach flip in anticipation. Tugger crooked a finger at him. Mungojerrie leaned down. Tugger hooked the finger in his collar and lifted himself up just enough to press their lips together. Mungojerrie hummed into the kiss. They pulled apart slowly.

“Romantic,” Mungojerrie scoffed affectionately.

Tugger laughed. “Shut up.”

Did you know that Tugger can do punchies and, more importantly, Munkustrap can, when called upon by the presence of cute orange little guys, do silly kickees? and also scrabble at bellies?

Oasis cast 1, 2014. Since this is Oasis, and all characters are present for this performance, they are almost certainly all first cast (barring the chance of temporary replacements), and I definitely recognise George Hankers as Mungojerrie. The other three should be Georgie Leatherland (Rumpelteazer), Matias Stegmann (Munkustrap), and Dominic Andersen (a very enthusiastic Tugger who must leap and frolic everywhere).
