Saving the old Studio isn't gonna be so easy this time around.
And I'm so sad that I won't even get to see it in person before it closes , but for those who did , the memories of you being there will live on for the rest of us.
Story w/ Odyssey & Walter about the news under the Cut
Walter paced back and forth outside Kermit’s office in the Muppet Studios, clutching a printout of the article he’d just read. His face was a mix of disbelief and righteous indignation. Beside him, Odyssey leaned against the wall, arms crossed, her sharp purple afro casting a shadow that seemed as bold as her mood. She had read the same article moments earlier and was fuming too.
“You ready for this?” Odyssey asked, her voice low but firm.
Walter stopped pacing and nodded, holding the paper up like a weapon. “This isn’t just a ride—it’s history. It’s Jim’s legacy. Kermit needs to explain why this is happening..."
Odyssey gave him a small nod of approval. “Good. 'cause I've got some things I need to get off my chest too. Let’s rock.”
They pushed the door open, finding Kermit at his desk, scribbling something on a notepad. Listening to Smooth Jazz, He looked up, his face lighting up at first. “Oh, Walter! Miss Starlight! Great to see you both! What’s up?”
Walter didn’t waste a second. He slapped the article onto Kermit’s desk. “This! This is what’s up!”
Kermit blinked, his froggy eyes scanning the headline. “MuppetVision 3D… closing? Oh, uh… yeah. I thought you all knew…”
“we knew, we knew?” Walter’s voice cracked with emotion. “That’s all you have to say? This is MuppetVision 3D we’re talking about! It’s Jim’s creation! It’s a masterpiece of comedy and innovation! And you’re just letting it go? What happened, Kermit? What happened to caring about the Muppets?”
Kermit looked uncomfortable, fidgeting with the pencil in his hand. “Now, hold on, Walter. It’s not like I didn’t care. Disney owns the rights, and they make these decisions. I don’t have much of a say, well not anymore...”
“You don’t have a say?” Odyssey interjected, her voice cutting through the room. “Kermit, you’re the face of the Muppets! If you don’t fight for Jim’s vision, who will? This ride has been a piece of Muppet history for decades. People go to Hollywood Studios just to see it! And now it’s getting replaced by… by… some rock-n-roll coaster retheme, what the hell is even an Monster's Inc anyways. "
Kermit sighed, his expression growing more solemn. “I know it’s disappointing. I do. But times change, you know? Maybe they think it’s time for something new.”
“Something new?” Walter threw up his arms. “Kermit, this isn’t just ‘something old.’ It’s a piece of Jim’s soul! He poured everything into that attraction. The jokes, the characters, the spirit of it—it’s pure Henson! How can you just stand by and let it be scrapped?”
“Walter, it’s not like I want this to happen.” Kermit leaned forward, his voice quiet but firm. “Do you think I don’t care about Jim’s legacy? Do you think I don’t miss him every day? But the truth is, the Muppets have been struggling to stay relevant. Disney thinks a coaster might bring more attention to the brand.”
“That’s corporate nonsense, and you know it,” Odyssey said, her eyes narrowing. “This isn’t about what’s good for the Muppets. This is about what’s easy for Disney. And you’re letting them erase a piece of what makes the Muppets, the Muppets. Shit it is the last piece they got on the Lot otherwise there is only a gift shop! And the prices are too Danm high!- " Walter pats her back, Odyssey coughs abit in embarrassment from her rambling.
Kermit opened his mouth to respond but hesitated. The weight of their words seemed to hit him all at once. He looked down at the article, his fingers gently smoothing the paper as if trying to process the blow.
“Look,” Odyssey continued, her tone softening just a little, “I get it. You’re under a lot of pressure. But this isn’t just about nostalgia. This is about honoring what Jim built. He trusted you, Kermit. We all do. But if you stop fighting for what makes the Muppets special, then what are we even doing here?”
Walter stepped closer, his voice trembling. “Kermit, the Muppets mean everything to me. I joined this group because of what you and Jim stood for—creativity, heart, and a sense of fun that no one else could replicate. If we lose something like MuppetVision 3D, we’re losing a part of ourselves. Please, tell me you’re not okay with that.”
The room fell silent. Kermit’s eyes darted between Walter and Odyssey, their passion and frustration piercing through him. Finally, he sighed deeply.
“You’re right,” he said softly. “You’re both absolutely right. Jim wouldn’t want us to give up so easily. I’ll talk to Disney. I’ll remind them what this ride means—not just to us but to the fans, to everyone who still believes in the Muppets. I can’t promise anything, but I’ll do my best.”
Walter and Odyssey exchanged a glance, their expressions softening.
“That’s all we’re asking, Kermit,” Odyssey said. “Just fight for it. Fight for Jim.”
Walter smiled, a tear slipping down his cheek. “Thanks, Kermit. That means a lot.”
Kermit nodded, a determined glint in his eye. “You know, Jim used to say, ‘Simple is good.’ Maybe that’s what I need to remind Disney. Sometimes, the simplest things—like a little 3D movie about chaos and fun—are the most magical.”
Walter and Odyssey smiled, hope flickering in their hearts. As they left Kermit’s office, Walter turned to Odyssey.
“Do you think he can save it?” he asked.
Odyssey shrugged but smiled. “ it’s Kermit, we talkin' about son , if anyone can it's that crazy frog, Let’s just hope Disney remembers what magic really looks like.”
