SUPERHERO CAGES

Montreal's @MuralFestival calls self-taught local art icon Sandra Chevrier "one of Canada’s most important and relevant artist’s today." Depicting women's ongoing challenges finding freedom from twisted societal perceptions Chevrier's acclaimed "Superhero Cages" series depicts women trapped behind comic book cages representing false expectations of beauty and perfection. While this highly visible wall on Rue Napoléon at Blvd Saint-Laurent, painted in 2018 for Mural, has been an irresistible target for tagging, this poignant visual statement shines on and as Chevrier puts it, "exposes the humanity within the superhuman."  @sandrachevrier/

Throwback Thursday to painting this Galaktic Giant for the first @muralfestival in 2013. It was my biggest mural in my own city of Montreal and many enjoyed it deeply. Since then I’ve painted several murals around the world and improved my skills, but haven’t had the fortune to get another wall of this size in my own city. As I’m temporarily grounded here, this is my call for any locals that want to hire me to paint them something potent.
