“Magnus, I can’t just let it go. I would love it if this fight could just end and things could just be okay again, but it can’t. It’s not a little incident, you lied to me, you promised me to keep flirting with clients to a minimal.” Alec was beyond hurt and he honestly didn’t understand why it was so hard for Magnus to stay true. 

“Maybe it is to you, but is it to your client? Does this person even know that you have a boyfriend? Or did you lie to them too? Am I just another fleeting lover to you? Just another temporary distraction? If I’m not then why are you doing this?” Nothing about this trip sounded like a business trip. As much as Alec wanted to take a bath with his boyfriend and curl up in bed theree was no way he could. He wanted to trust Magnus on this but he had a horrible feeling about the whole thing.

It was impossible to ignore Magnus Bane when he wanted someone's attention. That's what Alec had quickly learnt but he still tried, sat in the library by himself until the male slid into the seat beside him.

"Working. I already got in trouble for being late to potions because of you today. So go away." He shifted his body position slightly so his back was turned towards Magnus, switching his focus back to his homework.

He could feel the demon poison slowly but steadily spreading through his veins, through his body and taking effect. He’d kept fighting for as long as he could, of course he had, he would never leave the people he loved to defend themselves if he could help it. He’d grabbed the warlock’s hand when he’d seen the blue flames from his fingertips, twining their fingers together. “It won’t work, Magnus. I already know that.” He wouldn’t cry. For Magnus’ own sake more than his own. “I’m sorry.” They should have had more time. Even if Shadowhunters rarely lived long lives, Alec was young. It had been one mistake that had turned into a fatality. “Promise me you will look after them. All of them.” His breathing was shallower and voice sounded tighter now. “Don’t give up on finding someone. You deserve the best. I love you so much, Magnus Bane. I do.” He let the last words out with a breath of air, body stilling as his heart stopped beating.

You're as beautiful as the day I lost you

It was impossibly hard to keep the tears from falling as he stood in the doorway with his nails digging into his palms. He knows full well that he had changed a lot in those 10 years. Anyone would but it was perhaps a greater change with the problems and difficulties he’d faces. There were grey hairs starting to show already and lines etched into his skin. But Magnus said those words and within a few strides, Alec was closing the gap that was between them and wrapping his arms around the warlock as tightly as he could manage. And he sobbed into his shoulder as soon as his face was pressed against it, he’d been so scared in coming back to the immortal. So scared he would have moved on. All he could do was mumble apologies over and over again, never wanting to let Magnus go again whilst knowing he would have to. But even knowing their relationship would have changed vastly in the years apart, it still felt right to be with Magnus again. He still smelt the same beneath the scent of aftershave, he was still beautiful and he still felt right in his arms. “I missed you.” He eventually whispered upon lifting his head.
