The Altan clan/the family of beasts ((personal Au! About my muse and her kin))

The Altan clan, one of the seven original families of minstral, is a extremely large clan almost entirely consistent of Faunus. Mostly called ‘the clan of beasts’, they are well known for their combat skills and proficiencies as huntsmen and huntresses as well as their lethal precision and brutal efficiency inside the criminal underworld; their clan mostly working as enforcers, assassin’s, hit men and contract killers.

Though they are not supporters of the white fang and their cause, they often offer safe harbor for Faunus who face prosecution, as well as work for any who are down on their luck. They also hold a reasonable amount of political power inside minstral, which protects them from Faunus hate organizations for the most part. Their family crest somewhat resembles a four eyed type of beast, mostly relatable to a lion.

Their heritage is a large mixture of eastern Asian and Japanese; heavily dependent upon honor and the way of the warrior as well as the ways of the assassin and the shinobi arts.The laws and traditions of the clan are heavily enforced, and at times, the disregard of these customs can cost family members their lives. If one is found dishonorable, they are tasked with six nigh impossible tasks to complete so that they may wipe their name clean. If the tasks are not completed, then the individual is offered a choice; exile from the clan, or seppuku to regain their honor.

The clans hierarchy/caste system is both a highly complicated one, having also to do with the fact that those born into the clan, be they human or Faunus, have a animal partner/guardian attached to them. The reason behind this is, after at least six months or at most four years after birth, all of the newborns in the clan are sent into the swamp like forests of the estate; the forests in question filled with large assortment of wild animals and beasts. The beasts pass from child to child, until they find one that they seem to be compatible with, or are willing to submit to. Those who gain partnership with carnivores, such as tigers snakes or lions are apart of the upper echelons of the clan. Those who are found with herbivores or omnivores such as cranes, deers, gorillas or lizards are apart of the middle class echelons. Those found without a partner beast are usually apart of the lowest status inside the clan. Those who are found to be the next head of the clan usually are found compatible a lion, seeing as the lion will rarely ever be found compatible with some generations of the clan, and it can be even rarer to find it to have submitted itself to anyone.
