Great Duke Gusion Ars Goetia is the commander of forty legions of Lucifer’s forces and is most known as the "Knower of All Things" for being willing to answer correctly any question given to him, be it about the past, present, or future.
He is among the most ancient of the Ars Goetia. While he has never confirmed the rumor himself, it is said he had an opportunity to name himself king alongside the likes of Paimon, Baal, Asmodeus, and others but refused to do so. Despite that, he still is among one of the most powerful individual beings in Hell, owed in large part to his practical omniscience granted to him by his grimoire.
Gusion serves two primary functions to the Ars Goetia. His first is as the keeper of all knowledge. His grimoire and library both have the answers to nearly any questions one might be able to answer. However, all Gusion knows comes at a price. For mortals, the price is clear. For hellborn and other goetia, it may vary. Depending on the importance of the information, the asking price of Gusion's knowledge increases dramatically. He will negotiate, but rarely gives anything away for free.
Gusion’s other role, and one that is more important to the Ars Goetia internally is his role as a mediator of disputes. He is called to mediate issues between members and use his skills in moderation and de-escalation to ensure infighting does not start to any serious degree.
Gusion is considered honest and straightforward, but also extremely blunt. He is one of the least casually social of the goetia, preferring instead of keep to his library and sending messages via letter when needed. In many cases, he will ignore all but the most pressing of summons or invitations, going so far as to occasionally disobey summons from the Sins or Kings that he feels are not worth his direct time, instead sending an envoy. It is a very rare occurrence to see him at a social function when he is not needed to mediate something and even rarer for him to approach someone for conversation. While not unwilling to speak, it is common for others to have to come to him.
Despite his general seclusion, Gusion’s skill in navigating a tense social situation is notable among the Ars Goetia, being known to turn enemies into friends and to ease the tension of most situations. However, this is less due to any natural charisma and more to do with his predictive grimoire that will give him exactly what to say and how to say it to ensure the best possible outcome for any given situation.
Gusion is capable of seeing the past, present, and future through his grimoire. While not the only member of the Ars Goetia to do so, he is the most prolific with it and tends to never go into a stiuation without having read up on the possibilities beforehand. Seeing the future for Gusion is a matter of being shown the most likely possibilities of a given situation and what actions taken will actually make an impact on them. To this end he often spends sizable portions of his day reading the tome.
Gusion, like any holder of a grimoire is a gifted sorcerer and holds a great deal of magical influence. His preferred expression of this magic is through mastery of time that comes with needing to be able to see into the past and future. He has the ability to stop, loop, and otherwise command time around him in the current moment. However, it is not to be used lightly as temporal spells can have unintended effects if not used with exact precision. To that end, he prefers to use it sparingly or in very basic forms- usually in the form of arcane clocks that are preset to do certain things at certain times.
Gusion is, lastly, a talented swordsmen preferring to wield two black scimitars in combat. Each of the blades is also etched with different sigils he can use to imbue his weapons with spells.
Gusion’s estate takes the form of a massive arcane library. The library contains one of the largest collections of information the Goetia have access to. Its halls are a dizzying arrangement of the earliest tomes to ever have existed- and even some yet to exist if you know where to look. The content of the tomes is ever changing and shifting depending on the understanding and desires of who is perusing its shelves. This is where Gusion spends a majority of his time, deep within the confines of his library often reading through material on guests yet to arrive to seek him out.
The first floor of the library is open to the general public and functions like any public library. It has a wide variety of popular entertainment from both the living world and made in Hell.
The second floor is a restricted section only for the Ars Goetia and the Sins. This contains more ancient knowledge and all magical secrets. Any sinners or hellborn not accompanied by them are not permitted entry for any reason.
Gusion's personal quarters on the third floor of his manor hold only himself and his two acknowledged children. Athena and Memnon, adults in their own right now, both hail from different mothers but neither is in the household. Each have their own small wings to call their own, but the servants of that floor all answer to the duke himself.
Gusion has an expansive collection of classic muscle cars he drives like an absolute madman. Since he can see the future, he knows exactly when and where all possible obstacles are going to be or react to his driving- thus all becomes the road.
He is a fan of Asian pop music and it can be heard on full blast both in his cars and coming from his office.
