There was no reason for 9XB to be questioning her status as a soldier for Homeworld. But here she was, face to face with a member of the Crystal Gems of all beings! Ruby stares up at the blacksmith with a blank and confused look. Like it was taking her some extra time to process what she had just been told.

"I don't.. don't mind it." Says 9XB, her voice stammering while answering Bismuth's question. "I uh.. I-I like being told what to do. Because if I wasn't.. then.. then I'd have nothing to do."

“I uh.. I-I don’t.. think it’d be a good idea.”  Fretted the thick-browed Ruby, toying with her fingers in a nervous manner.  She appreciated that Lapis Lazuli had been kind while giving her a tour of Little Homeworld (and the accompanying school!)  But it seemed like so much, too much for her!  “Eh.. Even though the Diamonds said we-we could stay here, I..” 9XB was starting to choke on her words, being flooded with emotion.  “I-I like Homeworld just fine.”

“I.. I don’t understand.  Could you.. reh-repeat that, please?”  Asks the otherworldly person with a confused look in her eyes.  Thick, dark red brows both arching high.

“A Spinel?”  Gasps the Ruby Gem, unable to help but stare at Spinel.  “Wh-What are you.. d-doing here on Earth?”  She inquired, thinking that Spinels weren’t allowed off of Homeworld, based on what she had been told thousands of years ago.

Upon the grey and black colored Gem making his entrance, Ruby gasped as she realized this was a Hematite.  They were created ages ago to help Gems that were higher up in the caste system.  Whereas she, was practically at the bottom.  Ruby’s body tensed up as as she crossed her arms then folded both hands inward to salute Hematite as he got closer.  “Ah.. Ah.. Anything I can do you for?”

“Aragonite?  Um.. c-can I.. ah-ask you something?”  Stammers the nervous Ruby.  She is twiddling her fingers nervously while waiting for Aragonite to step away from her farm work for a moment.

“Nothing is working!  Nothing is working!”  The pale red Gem screeched in the middle of a panic attack.  Why in clods name had she been sent to this planet?!  Her hands clenched large sides of her afro as tears welled up in her face.  Amidst her state of frustration and anxiety, steam began to come off of Ruby 9XB’s body.

Speaking of said steam, it would be in Connie’s best interest to not touch or stand too close to 9XB while the steam was coming off.  Otherwise she could get a serious burn!  Tears continued to waterfall down her cheeks, but they would quickly evaporate just seconds after falling from her tear ducts.  After several minutes of reassurance, and kindness from Connie, the Homeworld Gem was beginning to recover.

“M-My ship..” she said through two hiccups.  9XB’s tone was quieter now, but she also sounded hoarse.  “It won’t.. w-won’t start.”
