muse headcanon: gambling

He likes to gamble. He likes gambling games a lot, but refuses to play a game for keeps if he does not thoroughly understand the rules and how it works

He's not in it for the thrill of the win. He's in it for the mind games.

Trundle likes picking people apart. He likes watching people under pressure. He likes seeing how someone ticks. How they face risk. How they lie.

Also, it's one of the few things he can do with people of sharper wit than his kin that won't accidentally lead to hurting or killing someone interesting. It's not easy doing things with the tiny folk.

He's sure there's other games that he could play that revolve around mind games, but gambling is the easiest find.

Hale really likes exerting energy and loves a challenge. Running, hunting, fighting, climbing, you name it. If it demands physical labor and athletics, he's interested.

He doesn't have enough to engage him in his usual environment of the tundra. There may be many things to climb and traverse for smaller travelers, but for the near 28' troll, his options are limited. This, more often than not, is a big factor in his tendency to chase and sniff out hikers, explorers, traveling merchants...anyone small and smart enough to find a way to hide. His goal is not to hurt them, only to entertain himself until they can't provide any longer.

It may not seem it in his slow, stomping start, but he always gives his targets a head start. It's not fun if they don't have enough of a chance. Whether he leaves them alone afterward, however, is a toss up.

It depends on his mood and what they do. Or, what they have with them.

There is only one place he has seen and taken note of the sight of butterflies: when one landed on a knuckle while observing a certain older sir's garden.

He's been wanting to see more of them since. They're just.... interesting! And weird! And 90% wing and color and they move and flap so hard in such perfect silence! He wants to observe them more, but it's terribly hard.

He has asked friends (Demi and Cassius) for advice, but those who knew told him he would have to simply sit as still as he can.

Hale is quickly learning how bad he is at simply sitting still.

Despite the glamour and intrigue of such shimmering sights, Hale does not usually hold much interest in shiny trinkets or things. Though they may catch his eye, once he gets a better look at the object he more often than not cares little for his finding. If it reminds him of something he my bring it to whoever is closest related to it, but more often than not, aside from observing, he’s not too keen on sparkly shinies.

The guy’s not really used to seeing flowers at all,  though the one or two times that he has seen some, he thought they were really interesting. He never really sees anything that colorful back home. 

He likes the smell and taste of honeysuckle the most. It’s also the name he remembers the most easily.
