“ this one's hopeless. ” to zack!!

it's hard to breathe, even gnawing on his bottom lip in nervousness. the buster sword drops to their side, looking so pathetic and desperate to find anything to help this soldier. " y - you'll be okay! " he calls out, even reaching to try and lift his arm around his shoulder to try and hoist them up but it's all dead weight. the only sign of life they give is a quiet groan and the blood pouring from their helmet. @serapime doesn't give enough time for him to dwell over the possibility of another death that could've easily been avoided. if only he were smarter, stronger, faster. he's clinging onto anything, looking completely disheartened. he knows better that this one is a lost cause. he's seen too many deaths that he should absolutely still be infuriated, but there's nothing, only numbness that this soldier is another face and another name to add to the list. suddenly, he's a kid again.

she finally speaks up, seeming to read zack's mind out loud. " this one's hopeless. " blood and darkness.

if this were him when he was younger, he'd stomp his feet and demand to help him. no one can just throw away life like this and call them hopeless. is this what it's meant to be a soldier 1st class? he's starting to wonder if this was even worth the chase to begin with but then... angeal would be disappointed. does that fact even matter? with the weight finally bringing him back to the present, the breathing has finally stopped and he can only look at them with sorrow, gently settling them back on the ground. he ignores the way his entire left arm is covered in blood. one deep breath and a long exhale later, the buster sword is finally applied on his back with eyes always continuously looking down. " hey sephiroth, is this all hopeless? " he finally speaks from the abhorrently long silence. brows are furrowed, hesitantly taking the step away and approaching her side once again. he wants to see aerith... needs it. " just what's the whole purpose to this? it doesn't get any easier, does it? "
