Penelope had spent the early hours of the morning sorting and resorting the school supplies to make sure every child would have the most equal amount of items they needed. It was a hard balance. Kids were perspective. They knew which ones of their peers had enough and which ones were wanting. While the bake sale didn't eliminate the hierarchy that can develop when one kid isn't able to afford the nicest, most trendy supplies, it at least made the gap narrower.
And Penelope expected nothing less from her family. Both her wife and her daughter agreed to help set up the bake sale, but that didn't stop Penelope from worrying if everything was still set up just right.
After fiddling with the trays of cookies, Penelope looked over her shoulder. "These are centered, right, Livy? I'm not going crazy?"
