Drabble: Raiko and Riteraru on music
“Well I don’t really know much about music, occasionally I would overhear some from my display case. I didn’t really get it though it’s just noise,” Riteraru would start. Anyone could see Raiko go through multiple phases of ‘I can hit her right? That’s something I should do, hit her until she gets music’ on her face. With a sigh she’d say “Listen Riteraru you ever practice swinging that oversized blade around and get into a rhythm, like one, one, one, one?”.
“I have time feels like it passes quicker when I do,” Riteraru would reply. “Of course time still moves at the same pace regardless!” she made sure to be clear. “That’s part of music, letting the sound set a beat and following it to help focus your mind or get you hyped up. It’s a powerful thing you know,” Raiko would would try to keep explaining.
“Now just listen for a bit and tell me there is nothing to this sweet beat,” The drum tsukumogami told Riteraru while playing a simple beat. Riteraru listened obediently her head starting to bob along before she opened her mouth again “There is nothing to this sweet beat… Also how beets aren’t that sweet,”. Raiko opened her mouth to speak but realizing her own wording just hit her own forehead with her drumsticks a few times. She wasn’t even going to dignify the other statement with a response. “Listen, just, listen then give me your opinion on my playing,” she said before returning to her simple beat.
It took a while and some liberally application of Raiko’s ability but soon Riteraru was bobbing her head to the beat getting more and more into it as Raiko started playing more in earnest. Somewhere along the line Raiko had forgotten what exactly she was trying to teach the dense youkai and just played. At least Riteraru was dancing along in a silly matter. Seemingly Riteraru understood to some degree the power of music now.
