The Silt Verses starters:
"How many 'worst nights of your life' have there been?"
They had just gotten a cup of coffee, admittedly it was from the cheapest street vendor they could find, and so black and bitter you’d imagine it could burn a hole in the pavement, but it was coffee and hot. Alexis had taken their cup of coffee over to one side, and with practiced ease held it in one hand, while their other moved to retrieve a cigarette from a pocket and light it. Normally their figure was hidden by a large coat, making it near impossible to tell anything about them, but on this particular day they had just spent some hard-earned cash to get it cleaned. With how often they wore it, there was a point at which even if that money would arguably be better spent on food, they had to get it cleaned.
With the coat gone, a different picture was painted than was normal for them, especially as they had their shirt sleeves shoved up to their elbows. A button-up shirt that hung loosely enough to tell Alexis was, at best, skinny. Enough scars on their forearms to tell that at some point they had likely needed to defend themselves from something or someone. An androgynous look, but with the complete lack of facial hair, and angles of their face might give hints as to how they’d been assigned when born, which hinted at quite a story when combined with the rest of their appearance.
Eyes flickering to the ever so slightly shorter woman, a nearly utterly flat expression gave no real hint as to their feelings about the question. Although there was a slight narrowing of the eyes, and a flicker of something surprised as well as puzzled. “Is this a question you ask every random stranger you come across, or am I lucky today?” A click of a lighter, a pull of a cigarette, a sip of burning hot coffee that was more bitter than the smoke from the cigarette. “At least three, and you?”
A night they had been abducted, and other nights that had held their own torments. In truth, they had lost count of the nights. At least three.
❛ This neighborhood? It’s full of crazies. I’d lock my doors. ❜
The flat and expressionless look was a habitual thing, hiding Alexis' surprise. That voice, from that figure? Not a thing Alexis would have expected, but this was Gotham after all, and odder things could be found in any number of places. "Perhaps I'm one of those crazies, you can never tell." A poor joke, but one that amused Alexis anyways. Perhaps, because they were in fact one of the crazies, just more in control than some.
A hand reached into their coat to pull out a half smoked cigarette that was of one of the cheapest brands around, if not the cheapest. "Besides, last time I locked my door it got kicked down because someone wanted to see what I had that was so important I locked the door."
Finding their lighter to light the cigarette, Alexis looked down to the short woman. "Why the free advice though? Thanks, of course, but why? And what are you doing around here anyways?"
"Alexis!" The words echoed down the rundown hallway, tearing at the already faded wallpaper.
"I need a hand, please." Everything was bloody, her hands, the floor, the table. Too much blood, but that was the advantage of having a blood mage as your doctor. There was always more blood to be made. However, it wouldn't be much use if she couldn't get the wound closed, which she couldn't do if it wasn't clean, and she was a hand short.
"Alexis! Please!"
They’d crossed paths with the woman enough times now to have traded names. Perhaps a bit more, a mention here or there of knowing how to bandage someone up, or similar things. A hint that Alexis was not exactly in a good living situation, and yet no signs, yet, that they were another soon to be villain or criminal in Gotham. Those signs had been hidden, so far.
Alexis had been moving through one rundown building or another, and upon seeing Elise had offered a friendly nod before continuing on. Looking for cans to sell perhaps, or lost things to pawn, or simply moving through to somewhere else, perhaps. Regardless, minutes later, everything changed. A person hurt, another running away, blood coating seemingly everything, and Alexis’ name being yelled. Just barely they heard their name, and for a second they almost ignored it, but then that second call came.
Once a doctor, even if just barely, always a doctor it seemed. Turning, Alexis sprinted down the hallways without hesitation. Quieter than one might expect, but as they were moving as fast as they could, it was certainly audible. Before long they slid into the room Elise was in, their eyes glancing over everything. For a second there was something in their eyes, a desire, or a need perhaps, but it disappeared quickly. Blood might catch their attention, but it didn’t contain that particular mix of hands on violence that pulled their addiction to the front quickly. “Elise.”
Moving towards the table, Alexis’ hand moved into their coat pulling out a bottle of hand sanitizer, and seconds later their hands were as sanitary as they could be in such a condition. “That wound, you have a way to clean and close it?” They had a small kit in their coat, but it’d be nice if they didn’t have to use their meager resources. Still, if they had to though, so be it. “Got a kit in my coat if not.” As they spoke, Alexis was reaching for the wound to get pressure on it, already helping without any hesitation.
What are Albatross‘ thoughts of Kazimierz?
“My thoughts of Kazimierz? Of course, I love my home. I was both born and had lived my younger years with my sister in the villages near Terrat, it was.. well not rich but, I love it there.” “For the other parts of them.. well..” “I must say again that, I love it wholely, though now I am not part of the knight's orders anymore, I still feel that they are really precious and important for me.”
Hey just so you know the creator of the bigender flag you used was revealed to be a p*dophile. The bigender community only learned of this a day or so ago and there are sources available on @forthebigenders. Would it be too much to ask if you could use an alternate flag?
ok, checking out the sources this seems legit, which sucks
im about to go on vacation for a week, so for now i’ll just delete the original posts and fix colours and such when i get back
(if i forget, which i may, bc my to-do list is endless and my brain a pile of garbage, someone message me and ask for a new one TT_TT)
Just so you know, your aro pride post has image descriptions for bi pride, not aro pride
ahhh thank you for letting me know anon! it’s fixed now TT_TT that’s what i get for batch-drafting posts i guess
The critical pride thing looks really cool! Though I wanted to mention that the aromantic one is upside down; green is at the top and black on the bottom. Idk if that was intentional or not, but wanted to mention; I know it can be confusing since it’s the opposite order from the ace flag
thank you! it’s been a while since I made it but I think I put it that way round because when I was colouring it, black at the bottom was making it look unbalanced for some reason, though looking at it now I don’t see why it would...
maybe I was just being dumb, the ref image i have is the right way up.
