Ren was extremely uncertain that it was fine, but if she was trying to be calm and nonchalant about it, was that the right way to go? Even if it was, he couldn’t just ignore it. He stepped forward, wondering if he could do something to help. “It shouldn’t take me long to bandage it up.” He said. Ren was more grateful than ever that he kept a roll of bandages in his pocket. He figured that a mission probably wasn’t the best place for a huge bag, but bandages were important for a mission. If they had time he’d stitch it up, but he didn’t have anything to do that with.

To show her that, he pulled out the roll of bandages, moving over to her side. “We really should deal with it now, because if you’ll forgive my disrespect, you won’t be able to help anyone if you bleed out.”

Things had been going so well, that he should have known a disaster was on the horizon. 

They’d gotten the call and rushed out of the movie theater just in time to see chaos breaking out in the streets. People were scared and furious and---and they all knew what that meant. Despite his protests that he could help, Weiss and Jaune ordered him back to Atlas Academy with firm words that this was dangerous...as if trying to make his way through the streets on his own wasn’t going to be dangerous. 

However, he didn’t have long to consider either the spark of bitterness or knot of useless guilt in his chest, before he his attention was caught by something else. People were running and shoving, and among the chaos, hazel eyes caught a larger body crash into a boy that had to be around his own age, before continuing on in their sprint.

“Hey!” The shout was more in outrage than after the person, as he dashed towards the other teen. 

“Are you okay?” He asked, hand outstretched in an offer of help before his feet had even stopped.

            oh , everything felt like a bad dream . she used to wish sometimes that that’s all it had been , but now ? even entertaining the thought felt like an uncomfortable betrayal . but what had happened ? all seemed like a dream . which is why she had wandered so far off . to cry , to think , to try to make sense of it . but really all she had managed was to knock down a couple of trees and yell a lot at nothing before she tired herself out and sank to a sitting position .

any sort of relief oscar had from jnr’s comical display of chaos dies when he sees whitley’s face. the frustration burning behind icy blue eyes, the way he stormed off as quickly as he could... oscar’s been around whitley enough to know when he’s open and when he closes himself off. eyes fall to the floor, regret gripping his insides. he’ll talk to whitley when he comes back and apologize for what happened.

except he doesn’t come back and that makes oscar worry. unable to handle the sinking feeling in his stomach anymore  ( between what’s happening with whitley, what weiss might find, and what ironwood could be dealing with ), he spurs himself forward and slips away from the party. for the first time, oscar walks the halls of the manor with purpose until he gets to whitley’s room.

lips thin, afraid that his friend wouldn’t want to talk to him. but he has to try, right? someone else got hurt because of all these dumb lies and frankly, oscar is tired of it. so he takes a deep breath and knocks softly.  “ whitley? it’s oscar. um, can i talk to you? “

There’s… not much to do in the manor, she finds. At least, not when she’s being paraded around as the heiress. But she remembers one way Ruby and Yang insisted upon wasting time.

So, here she is: in the middle of a game, when Whitley appears in her doorway.

“Will you just wait five more minutes? I cannot save yet.”

To say that Ren wasn’t happy to be working security for one of Jacques Schnee’s speeches would be an understatement. He was, however, very good at hiding his displeasure-partly due to his semblance and partly just because of his personality-and keeping his face a mask. However he had taken almost immediate note of Jacques’ young son, Whitley. He looked like both Weiss and Winter, which was to be expected, and he couldn’t have been more than 14.

So Ren was watching him extra carefully to make sure that he was okay.

Which came in handy when everything started going sour because of rioting. Jacques’ numerous security immediately set about trying to deal with the rioters. Ren, however? He immediately ran to Whitley’s side and knelt down to his level, shielding him as much as he could from all of it. “Are you okay?” He asked seriously.
