Its early and there’s a cup (Near deduces coffee, considering the faint smell of that wisps past) in Gevanni’s hand. The man has asked before if his superior would have liked anything from his morning run to the bakery, but after many years of ‘No, thank you’s he’s learned to stop wondering how Near stays awake as much as he does.

     Bare feet are warmed against the headed bed of the massive 3D printer the successor acquired a few months prior, but like the coffee it seems Gevanni had stopped asking about that, too. ❝Should you want to keep up appearances, all you need do is ask to leave early. The case we’ve been working on should be finished shortly.❞

They had practically lost everything they’d fought for. He was right, though-- they were spared, and whether Kira intended their survival or not, they were left standing and breathing in his shadow. There was no use locking herself away and discontinuing the investigation they risked their whole being to finish. This was for L, for Soichiro.

“..I’m in. If Kira didn’t end me now, then that means I still have a chance to help you all end this, like you said. It’ll be a pleasure to work by your side.” Miu offered him a small, exhausted smile, extending her hand to him. “We’re so close..I know we’re almost there! Though..are the others okay with me joining?”

She’s currently roaming around the convenience store. Hikari didn’t really feel like cooking tonight so she opted to buy (most likely junk) something from the nearby store. However, Hikari couldn’t seem to figure out what she wanted. How many times has she circled around the store now? Hopefully no one though she was being suspicious. Maybe she’ll just get herself cup noodles or something. If only she knew how to make decisions....

Toshiaki knew that she was scared of dogs and that was why he took things slowly with her. He didn’t want to scare her off, but he could read the mood. The way she fell back whenever he approached and how she refused to look him in the eye whenever they were together? They were signs he thought would eventually fade away, but still lingered no matter how hard he tried.

The red-head shook his head and turned his back on her. He wasn’t the type to wear his heart on his sleeve and cry in front of someone. There was no sense in making her hate him anymore by sticking around. He hoped that maybe he could convince that not all dogs were bad, but perhaps it wouldn’t matter.

“I know ‘m not the smartest person in the room, but I can tell when someone doesn’t like me.”

He stuffed his hands into his pockets and only pulled one out to wave back at her. He wouldn’t turn to look at her again, no, it would only make leaving even harder on him. Perhaps he wasn’t meant to befriend everyone he met, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t going to hurt. “It was nice Nana, cya.”

     Nose twitched with a scent carried by a faint breeze. Wolf -- a turned wolf. Brow raised as Emil stopped in his tracks. He should be leaving, his instincts told him. There was no pack near here, not for hundreds of miles... Another wolf would only cause problems, they’d find him, they’d--

     He shakes his head and swallows. Against better judgement Emil follows the scent and as it gets stronger he realizes how new this one was. Turned wolves were dangerous without years of transformations under their belts, but the full moon wasn’t for another week... He’d be safe for now. He continued forward, his mind screaming for his body to turn around. His eyes seem to get brighter.

     And when he finally sees who he’s tracking Emil has the struggle he’s had most of his life: to run or stay. He’s spotted before he’s able to make a decision. His nose wrinkles. Who knows if this kid even knew he was being followed, or by what.

“He’s an incredibly intelligent man, I actually can’t believe he approached me to work alongside him as an SPK member. It’s an honor, really. Especially with everything that happened. I was a little nervous, but he’s actually quite approachable. I guess if I’m being honest, he’s pretty handsome too. Uhm, this isn’t being written down or anything, right? Anyways..I hope to learn more from him-- I think examining his skills could help me more as a detective. It was amazing to be by his side, but it was a different feeling altogether when she was by his side and he seemed to be interested in her as she was in him. There were times she truly believed that perhaps he wanted to be with her, but refused to ruin their friendship, but she had made it obvious enough that she wanted more so it was frustrating to know.

Today felt like any other day, but things had gotten especially quiet. A silence that she was used to, but with the way he looked at her things felt different. It made her heart race and pound within her chest. A feeling she was used to, but one she would never get accustomed to.

“Jasper..--”

His name is breathed out as the two leaned closer together. This would be the first time that she would be kissed by him without her first almost forcing him into it. One hand was pressed against her chest as she reached out with her other hand to lead him towards her.

Right as the two were about to kiss and possibly confirm some feelings she hoped that he had for her, the setting was ruined. Jameson had slammed opened the back room door to complain about something that had happened in the front and the illusion was stolen from her. Jasper quickly pulled from her and walked towards the front with Jameson following behind.
