The day was one that could be compared to something in a poet’s verses about nature, the sun was shining, bright and cast a warmth that combined with the wind blowing, it was the perfect temperature outside. No clouds in sight, the vast expanse of blue sky visible to all eyes, it was a picture-esque scene of spring. Which made it one that Catherine was excited about to not have to be going out into the city where she’d feel almost claustrophobic with the buildings so close and blocking out the sun, almost no wind to be felt. That wasn’t to say there weren’t things about it that she didn’t find appealing, such as the convenience of being able to buy everything she needed without having to go all over like in the country side.
As she was out in the chicken coop, spreading feed around for the multitude of chickens that swarmed around her and pecked at the ground, Catherine heard one of her helpers yell something about a “guest”, her ears raising up at the sound of a car door closing. Usually people didn’t come out here unless they were another farmer or a customer, to which she was elated, it could be either that a farmer was bringing her some new animals or crops, or someone was coming to buy supplies in bulk. Quickly, she finished spreading out the feed and left out the coop and closed the gate behind her, tying the bag of feed up and dropping it as she rushed out from far out in the field to greet the person, calling out to them before she was even close. It was obvious now that it was a customer, she had no clue who the person was as where she knew the other farmers.
“Hey there, stranger! How’re ya doin? You come here for supplies, dear? We got just about anything you’d be looking for coming to a farm!”
