1. 100 Years by Five for Fighting
“You’ve only got a hundred years to live,” this kind of plays back to the idea that we’ve all got a time limit, but it does it through a love story.
“Setting fire to our insides for fun,” some music is music and some music is also poetry, does that make sense? This song feels completely like pre-Yuuri Viktor to me and if you listen you might agree.
3. You Were Meant for Me by Jewel
“Dreams last so long/even after you’re gone,” I would heavily relate this to domestic Viktuuri and how you adopt all these little habits with your cohabitating lover except, unlike the song, THEY ARE NOT BREAKING UP EVER.
4. Give A Little Bit by Supertramp
Do I listen to a lot of oldies? Yes, yes I do. It’s just fun and they’re exchanging a lot of love? Love should be exchanged and shared whooo
5. This Kiss by Faith Hill
“Kiss me in sweet slow motion, let’s let everything slide,” you gotta have that one feel-good song about perfect love. I always listen to this when I’m feeling down and I think a couple of the scenes it describes would be good Viktuuri ;)
6. Poison & Wine by The Civil Wars
“I don’t love you, but I always will,” disagreements between people that love each other are never ever explored enough?? I think YOI tries to be realistic with this kind of thing too!
7. I’m So Humble by The Lonely Island
“Bar none I am the most humblest,” so this song is exactly what you’d expect but is also very amusing. It’s the same guy from the show Brooklyn Nine-Nine and I love him. This is like… a slightly more ridiculous and arrogant JJ.
8. El Tango de Roxanne from Moulin Rouge
“Roxanne/you don’t have to sell your body to the night,” I’ve never done a Stripper!AU and probably never will, but this is perfect for that. Also, we all know thanks to the recent YOI events with the seiyuus and Kubo that Viktor is DEFINITELY the jealous type.
“Who can say where the road goes,” have you ever wanted to feel like a baby swaddled up and being rocked by a basket on a river? Well, this song is the equivalent of that. I’ve definitely listened to it after/during panic attacks so I guess Yuuri could too?
10. All for Leyna by Billy Joel
“There’s nothing else I can do/cause I’m doing it all for Leyna,” I definitely see similarities in this song with how canon Viktor dealt with Yuuri never calling him and (possibly) didn’t care about him. Also I’m sorry but I am BILLY JOEL TRASH, his music is my beloved, and if I don’t write a Viktuuri fic based off of the song “For the Longest Time” soon someone better smack me.
