The automaton son of the Lady of Justice; a replacement of her original son Eldest after he died in the Diamondland war. Notably, has some of Eldest's memories downloaded.
Originally, he was raised as an automaton executioner who killed thousands in the Painted Mausoleum in Sanctum. He was known as the Beast because he wasn't technically supposed to be sapient; countless resets of his mind, however, piled up, and eventually, he became immune to the arcane tampering.
During his time in the Painted Mausoleum, he indirectly developed the mercy-siglum. He's still not sure how or why the Siglum chose him.
Now lives in the kingdom of Winter, a place of eternal snow where he lives in moderate isolation, as most of Winter and Sanctum are terrified shitless of his reputation, demeanor, and otherwise socially inept ass.
Likes cinnamon, his hat, the colour black, and smelling freshly laid snow in the morning.
Known as the Lord of Death or Bleak; prefers Bleak.
The brother of Lucas Stelheim; Bleak was made during a ritual when Lucas' mother tried to save Lucas' life from a fatal strain of bleak-sickness (known as the Hart disease, where it manifests as cold symptoms until it eventually stops your heart). The pagan god Lucas' mother contacted granted her wish for "her sons back" (Lucas has a dead older brother) by curing Lucas and molding the death-bleak combination into an identical twin to Lucas. Bc It was feeling like a wise-guy. Asshole.
Bleak was raised adjacent to Lucas, but due to holding two Siglums (death and bleak), Lucas' mom hid him away from the public eye.
Bleak started reaping souls at the age of 14.
After House Stelheim schism'd, Bleak has been living alone with his cavalier Bullet.
Grumpy, grouchy, sarcastic. All bark. Some bite. But easily bullied by others.

After House Stelheim's schism, Mal ran away from home and got involved in the Winter-Sanctum heightening political tensions. Mal is a firm supporter of the belief that the Heartland should be independent from Sanctum and has been causing Sanctum citizens to get sick of plague. Bleak has been trying to stop him and/or kill him for the last five years.
