With a wealthy family like his own, Max couldn’t possibly be surprised when his ship was hijacked by pirates, and he got taken as one of their hostages. What he was not expecting was to be completely charmed by the one-eyed captain of the ship. He’d been presented to many beautiful women in his life, but when he looked at her, none seemed to be as breathtaking as she was.

He could almost reach her hand, just a few more inches and he’d be able to grab her and pull her up. If only she would just reach up, but the more Max looked down at her, the more he realized she didn’t seem to want to save herself. She didn’t need to say it, he could see in her eyes she wanted him to just get to safety, but for once, he wouldn’t listen. For once, he’d do what he felt was right. “Niobe, please. Just grab my hand.” He pleaded, but he couldn’t see her reaction. The structure they were on was too unsteady, and with a deafening sound, it started going down. He barely had time to jump in one of the passageways before the rest of the structure, along with Niobe, fell down the mines.
