↳ all of margot archambault’s past ( serious ) relationships.
thought i’d end up with THOMAS, but he wasn’t a match ;
many of margot’s friends say thomas moore doesn’t count on her list of exes -- but she swears he does, and she’ll die on that hill if she has to. it was freshman year of high school, and it may have only lasted five months, but he meant the world and more to her. he was her first kiss ( on the front steps of harbington academy after school one day ), her first boyfriend ( he asked her to be his on valentine’s day ), and her first love ----- up until she left for france for the entire summer and he told her things just weren’t going to work out from such a distance. he promised her he’d be waiting for her when she got back, but that proved false when she spotted him kissing another girl in the hallways on the first day of sophomore year. needless to say -- sophomore slump really took its toll right from the get-go.
wrote some songs about CHARLIE, now i listen and laugh !
tenth grade wasn’t all bad, though, because margot made it onto the cheer team that year. charlie baker was a flyer -- and every time she tells the story, her audience interrupts to ask, “a male flyer?” until she clarifies that charlie is short for charlotte and, yes, she swings that way. it was brief, and luckily, it had a happy ending; they met at cheer tryouts, hung out every weekend until it got to the point where they were spending every waking moment together. margot likes to pretend she doesn’t remember when it turned romantic, but she does -- it was at a sleepover like any other, and charlie had asked her if she’d kissed anybody before, and she’d said yes, and then charlie had asked her if she’d kissed a girl before, and ----- well, the rest was history. it ended around new year’s, but on good terms, thankfully; margot and charlie still talk to this day.
and for YOUSSEF i’m so thankful,
the summer between sophomore and junior year was a hot one. she spent it in france, as always, and she met youssef boucher on the beaches of provence in july, and spent the rest of the summer sneaking out at ungodly hours to see him and do ungodly things. he was a hopeless romantic, and she wasn’t looking for much more than a summer romance -- needless to say, it was a bright flame. but it burned fast, and margot quickly realized that time was running out. for some reason, though, she couldn’t bring herself to say it to his face -- so, when it came time for her to go back to new york, she did just that without so much as a note.
wish i could say thank you to AUGUST, ‘cause he was an angel.
she returned to france the summer between junior and senior year after dedicating the entirety of eleventh grade to her studies and cheer. she spent it in paris rather than provence this time around, deciding she would focus on her family this summer rather than romance; but things never seem to work out the way she wants them to in that department, it seems. while shadowing her mother doing her diplomatic duties, she met a boy doing an internship, and the connection was instant -- she quickly disregarded any and all studies she was supposed to be tending to in favor of pining over him. it was a long and slow fall, but after three months of tiptoeing around each other, they finally threw themselves headfirst into something -- it was a relationship in every way except a title. they only saw each other when margot was at work with her mother, and she knew little about him past his name -- august -- but margot even considered not returning to new york just so she could be with him. but, a week before the next school year was due to start, august suddenly seemed to want nothing to do with her, and when she confronted him, he asked her how she could so easily break his brother’s heart -- and she came to realize, then, that august’s last name was boucher, and he was youssef’s older brother. needless to say, she asked her mother ( or, really, demanded ) to take the next flight home, humiliated beyond belief -- but above all, she was heartbroken.
i’m so fuckin’ grateful for my EX !
