When someone asks me where I finally laid us to rest, I'll tell them, on the corner of 10th & 23rd.
I love you I miss you Tell me I can come home to your open arms
I do it just for old times sake while you lay there and pretend you're not awake you're breathing quietly, eyes are closed as I wander round on tippy toes your chest moves up and down, fast asleep these memories are ones I struggle to keep you twitch and you squirm as I try to remember the curves of your bones I once a learned you snore peacefully, your chest rises slow and sinks deep again, your lungs moving below the skin stretched thin across your long frame as I try to accept that we will never be the same
"The distance is further and you're becoming a memory, something that happened long ago. And when I find photos I've hidden of you I ask myself who are these people in these photos and when did they stop being so happy together? What was, no longer is. And I just don't feel anything any more."
you're worth these sleepless nights my lack of fuel tired, tearful eyes emotive heart we will get to the end of this, and darkness will no longer hold you and I will love you until the light reaches your bones again and hold you till you know you were worth it all
"I am in love with another."
and just like that I wondered why I had ever loved you at all
but then I slowly began to be okay with the way your words raked over me like nails on a blackboard.
