Inspired by the Pendulum concert I saw earlier this March, it was a goddamn blast to see them perform live. Unfortunately they didn't play The Tempest, the song used for this amv, at said concert, which is a shame because it's hands down one of my favourite Pendulum songs ever recorded. It's also a very long song that requires build up so I understand it not being played ever lmao.
ALSO FINALLY. I have made a proper Dynasty Warriors AMV. About DAMN time.
I've been itching to make a new amv for a long while, hell been wanting to make a Dynasty Warriors one for a while. And finally, after a lot of scrapped ideas and false starts, that very Pendulum concert would be the inspiration that helped me form together a solid vision for this brand new AMV.
All of the footage used in this amv is from Dynasty Warriors 8, and its all my own recordings. Still trying to get my elgato capture card up and running (LOL), but I hope to eventually capture audio in the future, amongst other scenes from other games that have eluded me for so long.
saying "I will cut through this chaos alongside you" to the person you love is not just the most poetically beautiful thing you could say to someone, but also my god it goes so fucking hard. the fact that a game can accurately capture what my self insert would say is deeply satisfying. Trinity WOULD in fact say that.
I don’t have the energy or brain power to think of a super complex story for a dynasty warrior self insert, so I ask do we put her in a time travel situation, an isekai situation or some other option I haven’t even considered.

I’ve thought about a whole conversation that Masamune and Kara would have in WO3U once he learns about her past and her fears of “being sent to her ‘time’, but ultimately not having a ‘home’ to go to.”
Contains some Warriors Orochi 3 spoilers.
In WO3, the Mystics can interfere with reality and do space-time shenanigans, but ultimately they never prevent or try to change actual historical events from happening. The actual “true” ending of WO3U has the Mystics sending home the officers and warriors back to their respective time and worlds, as the one they are in, is collapsing in itself after the defeat of Orochi X (who said he would destroy the world that these warriors across time and space have been sent to). And in this case if the Mystics were to send Kara “home”, there’s a very high chance she’s just going to return to a community that has already been or will eventually be infiltrated by her doppleganger once again.
So in essence she’s doomed to return to nothing, and when Kara confides in Masamune about this particular anxiety, he makes a snide remark about how the mystics aren’t all great and powerful as they claim to be if they can’t even bother to send someone back to their own time without an actual home to go to. He does however argue that Kara can’t just give up her life like that so easily, even if it’s just because she has no place to call “home” anymore.
At first he calls her an ‘imbecile’ for such a thought, because to him it’s a defeatist mentality he cannot stand. Internally it breaks his heart to know that she would throw away her life like that, despite being such a strong fighter. Instead he makes the argument for Kara to live her life freely despite the circumstances she’s been given, to instead channel her anger and energy of those who abandoned the real Kara for a fake hollow version of her, into creating a home for people stuck in a situation like hers. Masamune would even say that: “if your so called gods have frequently harmed people like yourself, then it would be in your favour to seek the others out and form a new community that you can call ‘home’. Can you at least do that for me, even if you won’t remember me after all of this?”
Masamune does feel a genuine kinship with Kara, in that their families have in some way treated them poorly for things completely out of their control. That’s where his feelings for Kara initially come from, but upon the Greek warrior slowly showing him her ‘scars’ over time he can’t help but feel a deep connection with her (and vice versea).
Kara would… at least consider his words, but you need to remember by the time of this conversation in WO3U, she just got her freedom back after escaping the Divine Mirror with the rest of the warriors that were initally trapped in there during the Tamamo Arc of the game. she’s been in there for a VERY long time, so she’s a got a tornado of various emotions and feelings running around in her head. So all she really does in responsible is just exhaustedly nod in agreement.
There would be a bit of silence between the two but once again Masamune speaks up and says something, that he knows might not be super appropriate but it’s his genuine feelings to himself at the moment, and he can’t really keep them contained any longer. He essentially says “If… If you really don’t want to go home back to your time. If ‘home’ is painful for you, then… well there is no real chance this could be possible but, if it could, as the Dragon of Oshū, you’re always welcome to find a new home on my land.”
“If.. by any miracle of a chance it does happen, It will be chaotic, violent and dangerous. It’s the feudal chaos of it all. It’s only by mere chance I’m ‘friends’ with fellow officers from my time now, but once home, it’s a different story. I’m sure you knew that. But it would be a delight to have you by my side on the battlefield.”
Kara’s demeanour would change upon hearing that into I guess something more positive, or at least one of gratitude, and does appreciate the potential offer giving a small ‘thank you’, even if she knows such an offer is wishful thinking.
After some thinking, I think I definitely need to have two DW self inserts: one is specifically for the (potiental) ships with jia chong and sima shi, and the other is for xu shu, ma dai and uhhh the Wei royalty duo. But if you were to put both DW self inserts in the same room they would accuse the other as being a doppleganger or an evil twin. They are cut from the same cloth, they both are victims of being ‘isekaied’, but are separated by order of birth. I don’t even know if I my feelings are strong enough for jia chong and sima shi for me to self ship with them, and might get knocked down the blorbo down the line.
That Kara confessing to Masamune scene although technically she wouldn't actually say any of that. but at the same time you have to take the wins where you can get them, especially when custom character voice personality options are so limited.
I will say, Kara being taller than Masamune in the actual event scene gives me so much joy.
