Energy Update: Mercury in Virgo squares the lunar nodes and our last hurrah of the Gemini-Sag eclipse cycle
We are deep into Virgo energy at this point - as of Wednesday, we have three of our personal planets in Virgo (Mercury, Venus, and Mars.) Both Mercury and Mars are working (because in Virgo, even this is work) towards meeting up in their annual conjunction next Wednesday but before that, both need to pass the square point with the lunar nodes. I talked a lot about the lunar nodes during eclipse season - they aren't an object in the sky so much as a point of alignment - the line in which the Sun, Moon, and Earth WOULD come together in a line. This is what creates eclipses - a total eclipse occurs when the full or new moon is exactly conjunct one of the two lunar nodes and any full of new moon close to the nodal points will be partially eclipsed as well. As such, the lunar nodes - through the connection to eclipse season - are associated with "fate" in its widest meaning - the fate both of what was (the South node) and what will be (the north node). The lunar nodes travel through the horoscope backward and spend about three years in any given set of signs - for the past three years, the North node has been in Gemini and the South node has been in Sagittarius. Our North Node is sitting in at 7 degrees Gemini - a sign that this cycle is nearing its end. We are in the clean-up phase - hopefully, we have gleaned all of the lessons that we can from the fated encounters of the Gemini-Sag lunar cycle, and we may feel the pull to move on. Indeed, by the time we get to eclipse season again in November, we will have started to move on - our eclipsed new moon will be in Scorpio rather than Sagittarius. We are not there yet though and this weekend may feel a bit like the last hurrah of Gemini-Sag node energy as Mercury squares both node points. Mutable squares can be hard to predict - depending on your sensitivity to planetary energy, you may not even notice the passing of this quick-moving aspect or it may just roll in together with the intense energy of the major changes that are overwhelmingly omnipresent right now. But if the last three years were hard for you in particular - if the Gemini/Sag nodes really hit hard - if you struggle with the polarity of truth vs. the lie - if in general, the Gemini and Sag eclipses were really hard to handle, this is a weekend to watch out for. This is going to hit mutable signs the hardest (Gemini, Virgo, Sag, and Pisces) - especially if your personal planet falls between 0-14 degrees of either of these signs. This square point between the South Node of our past and the North node of our future can be called "the time to decide." This is a great weekend to make that decision that you've been putting off but the caveat to that is that this is a really, really, really bad time to NOT make that decision that you've been putting off. What we ignore persists. All of the mutable signs can be known for decision paralysis - partly because they want to go with the flow and not make waves. This is not the time to go with the flow and not make waves. The thing about deep astrological cycles that are indicative of change is that they don't care about your timeline, or your fears, or your indecisiveness. Not making a decision is just holding on to the past and that is exactly what the planets are not going to let you do - the time to step up is now. This is the last pass chance to make the most of the lessons of the Gemini-Sag cycle. Lunar node activation always feels a lot like the question: Are you in control of your own life or is your life in control of you? Something big that you've been avoiding may come up this weekend. If it does, know that it's right on time. The best thing to do with nodal energy is acknowledge the lesson - name it. The energy may feel a little bit passive-aggressive, but don't let it be. Confront what comes up head-on - really explore it. Use Mercury in Virgos ability to analyze to your very best advantage. Just remember not to get too far into "thought" to lose sight of your intuition. Lunar nodal energy is also very
intuitive - if something feels rotten, it probably is. Don't let your others rationalize you out of what you know that you need to do - we are headed into an Aquarius full moon which is all about DETACHMENT. Whatever it is that is coming up, it is all about you even if it appears, on the outside, to be about your relationships or your Others. If this energy does stir things up, if you find yourself really in it this weekend, know that this energy will pass fairly quickly though I highly recommend against using that as an excuse to not face the music in your own life.
