Day 3: Muto Vim
Muto Vim spells change magical spells! As metamagic, they’re kind of hard to place. I was worried about being able to present a thematically coherent concept. In the end, I decided to write spells for a hypothetical terram wizard interested in alchemy.
The Greater Alchemical Rite Level 30 Muto Vim Range: Touch Duration: Sun Target: Individual
The caster traces the appropriate alchemical sigils in the air; this spell takes effect. This spell can modify the effects of Creo Terram ritual spells the caster performs, up to level 20, provided that ritual produces some base metal. The modified version of the spell produces a base metal of the caster’s choice, instead of it’s normal effects.
(General, +1 Touch, +2 Sun)
Empower Alchemical Puissance General Muto Vim Range: Touch Duration: Ring Target: Individual
The caster recites the alchemical properties of a substance to be affected while walking in a circle around a target object. This spell enhances the effects of a Muto Terram spell by increasing the quality of substance it can affect by one magnitude. Spells to affect dirt or clay can affect stone. Spells to affect stone can affect metals.
The effects of this spell; the one modified, end if the object is brought outside of the ring dictated by this spell. This spell may only affect spells of up to ten less than the level of this spell.
(General, +1 Touch, +2 Ring)
Lesser Conservation of Arcane Power General Muto Vim Range: Touch Duration: Sun Target: Individual
The caster makes reductive and compacting gestures as they cast; the spell affected by this spell has it’s duration reduced by one step- down to momentary. Because of the limitations of muto magic, spells of year duration or similar are unaffected by this spell.
This spell may affects spells up (Level-10).
(General, +1 Touch, +2 Sun)
Bending the Alchemical Tide General Muto Vim Range: Touch Duration: Concentration Target: Individual
As the caster utters the final words of their spell, the make a series of sharp encircling gestures. This spell modifies the effects of a Muto Terram spell by permitting her to dictate any number of subjects she can perceive; warding them against the effects of her Muto Terram spell.
Those so chosen find that whatever is created by the Muto Terram spell will not touch them or come within a foot of them. It will shift and move out of their way should they approach it.
Once this spell ends, the effects of the Muto Terram spell resume at once; those previously warded are again affected.
This spell may affect spells up to one half of (Level-5).
(General, +1 touch, +1 Concentration)
