The Season Begins. . .
Tonight is the lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center.
Just like the tree who gets a second home, our book The Christmas Tree has a new home, OpenRoad Media.
It is so interesting looking back over those two decades to see how much has changed. Julie Salamon and I hadn’t even met before we began our journey of making this book together. I remember Julie sending me a chapter and I would send her the illustrations which could take a half an hour to upload on my first Mac, which was the size of my blender. Julie’s son was a toddler and my son had just started college. Julie’s son has just graduated from college and my ten year old granddaughter is reading The Christmas Tree for the first time. It is being published this time as an ebook as well as a paperback. An ebook hadn’t even been invented yet!
Like in the story of The Christmas Tree, the gift that endures are the friendships. I am so filled with gratitude for my friendship with Julie Salamon and for the privilege of working with her. We have developed our own language of words and pictures. And in the last few years we have added two more books to our list and have enjoyed speaking about our collaboration. It’s a friendship where we finish each other’s sentences.
So this season, I am focusing on gratitude. I am so grateful for the people I work with, for the opportunity to do work I love, and for the people in my life that I love. For my family, for my animals and for Frajil Farms.
For those of you who haven’t read The Christmas Tree, it’s a heartwarming story about friendship and generosity. All our books are available at your local bookshop!
