Starter/Plotting call!
Sabella waited patiently, looking over the paperwork she’d ensured Jarl Siddgier provided. He’d almost forgotten, but she hounded him for several weeks before leaving to make sure she knew exactly what he wanted from these people. She had already ensured that her hair and makeup were immaculate, her dress was clean and proper for the occasion, and that she looked every bit the important woman she wished to present herself as. Memorizing the Jarl's needs and wants and strategizing was her main goal now, she’d gone over them during the whole trip and she needed to make sure her mind and tongue were as honed as her look and the sword at her hip.
Eventually someone came to fetch her, so she rolled up her notes and tied them up neatly. Handing them over to the helper that Siddgier had sent with her, Sabella walked out to meet with the important individual that he had insisted needed to be a friend of Falkreath. Her head was kept high, and she simply inclined it politely along with a trained pleasant smile, bordering flirtation and business alike. “Good afternoon, and thank you for receiving me. I am Sabella Ivarstead of Falkreath.”
Public Speaking
“So, Gregor, you’ll-”
“Jarl Skald asked you specifically to negotiate this trade deal. It is your job my Thane, not mine.”
Ivy glared up at Gregor, the man standing far taller than her and berely looking down in his periphery. She hated public speaking and had been perplexed the entire boat ride to this place as to why Skald chose her specifically. Was she really the only Thane of the Hold? He could have chosen anyone else. But no, instead she was standing there, in her nicest clothes and with her hair nicly combed and pulled back, still feeling out of place. Even as she dressed up, she was acutely aware of how she was shorter, wider, and did not exude the same regality that many of the tall, beautiful people around her here did. She’d even hidden the tops of her ears with her hair like she did back in Bretania. No matter how much Gegor told her she looked perfectly pretty and respectable or that she should be confident as a Thane now, she couldn’t shake the feeling she didn’t fit and needed to run far and fast.
“I’m going to die, it will be your fault.”
“You won’t die of embarrassment or talking my Thane.”
“You don’t know that!”
“I’m quite sure you can be brave enough to chit chat and get a decent trade deal.”
Before she could retort a servant waved her and Gregor into the room, apparently her host was ready. She gulped, her tongue feeling like it glued itself to the roof of her mouth. She walked, steadily enough she hoped, but her hands folded behind her back and one of them grabbed and began rubbing a bit of her dress between her fingers in anxiousness. She hated new people. She hated speaking to new people.
Eventually they reached speaking distance, Gregor keeping behind her in a subtle way to make her more present and keep her from trying to convince him to take over talking. She swallowed and bowed, her hands coming to her front to fold politely, fingers interlacing and tangling as she stood back up. She cleared her throat and tried her best smile, though it seemed wide and stretched in her small face. “Uh, hello. I am Ivy Miller, Thane of the Pale Hold. I am here on behalf of Jarl Skald to discuss a business relationship.”
