favourite hidden gem movies??

OH GOSH i don't know that i have a lot of these slfjdslfksl but i'll try

swiss army man honestly had way more heart in it than i anticipated!! like, yeah there's a part where a reanimated corpse farts his way across a lake or whatever, but it's also kind of about loneliness

just my luck is this cute lil romcom w lindsay lohan and chris pine and i feel like objectively it's not great but it's really adorable and the fact that more people don't talk about it is a damn shame

i did not hear enough about colette and it's entirely possible that film is bad or problematic or something and i didn't think about it or realize when i watched but it's not just keira knightley in a period drama, it's GAY keira knightley in a period drama, so like??? come on

THE WAY HE LOOKS!!!! the way he looks is a brazilian movie about a blind gay teenage boy and it is the sweetest film. it's a love story, really, and it's just. god. it's so cute. i saw it when it was a short film and then heard it was turning into a feature and the excitement i felt when i finally got to watch it.... it's so wonderful

i'm not sure if it's considered a hidden gem, per se, but the grand budapest hotel is a WILD ride and it is SO fun to watch

i managed to come up w these without having to look anything up and i'm proud tbh

okay this is another thing that is tough bc i love reading so MUCH and i have a bookshelf literally overflowing with books i love BUT here are the first books i think of when asked this:

proxy duology by alex london

they both die at the end by adam silvera (which i actually read before it became a tiktok crazy apparently??? i know that sounds super hipster to say but i read it like... not too long after it came out and it's just. damn. so good.)

the hunger games trilogy by suzanne collins

red, white and royal blue by casey mcquiston

honorable mention: the night world series by lj smith, which i don't think will ever be finished, but there are 9 books so far and i have read them all... at least 3 times apiece? it's about time for a reread, i don't think i've read them since high school and i used to call lj smith my favorite author bc for a while i was reading everything i could get my hands on that she'd written

jacob anderson & sam reid. jacob is incredibly talented and i’m really glad people are starting to see that now, and sam reid is one of the most charismatic performers i’ve ever seen

1 - favorite season?

winter!! i love winter. it's the only time it doesn't really feel like summer here in the southern california desert and i love that it brings colder weather and more rain. i like not melting 😌

21 - favorite ending in fictional media?

i really loved how elementary ended! it felt really satisfying, which is rare for a tv show. and considering i watched it from the moment it started airing, it was gonna be tough to please me, but they managed. also the adventure zone: balance! AND as a teenager i was pissed about how the hunger games trilogy ended because i thought it was like, boring and a cop-out, but ppl have pointed out that katniss and peeta actually have a life of their own and children in a better world in spite of what the capitol had been doing to them and i have warmed up to it a whole heck of a lot. they deserve a happy ending godammit
