Cosmic Perspectives: Prince: The Secret To Finding Love

In the wake of Prince's recent transition, I've experienced a range of emotions, from sadness to uncertainty to elation, but overall, I've been inspired on many levels. Inspired by Prince's continuous presence of love, his unrelenting self-expression, sexiness, and the way in which he made the world a more beautiful place, just by being himself and giving his all to us. I remember being a little girl, listening to Prince, and being perlexed by his madness. He was so wild and vivid to me. But what really surprised me was how the same individuals in my life who always condemned others for being 'different', 'fast', or wild, never seemed to object to Prince's behavior. His music was so true, so brilliant, and so exceptional, the surface variety criticisms that other artists couldn't seem to dodge, never touched Prince. Even if we didn't understand Prince and his music at times, we still loved Prince and his music. We appreciated his brashness, his candor, his mystery, his theater. He was our vulnerable, fantasy ride through life. He was and is, in a very special way, true love. Prince's recent transition inspires me to share my reflections on true love. The kind of love that springs passion that burns deep inside of us - not a passing lust or infatuation, but real, eternal love. When I watch Prince, I feel this abiding love. It is this kind of love, real love that only comes from knowing yourself, that changes the world. What emerged in Prince was this love. So much so, that even under his shade, you still felt his warmth, which makes him extra special in my life. Unlike today, where shade is thrown haphazardly, with little to no finess, Prince always made you feel entertained and educated about yourself. He told the truth, and you knew he was ultimately inspiring you to be your best. This is the stuff of legend that creates a real, lasting legacy. So, what is the #1 secret to finding love? Prince shows us: by being in love, every moment of your life. The next time you watch Prince, watch him watching you back. Loving you back. Envision his perspective, and apply it to your own life.
